ACLU A.W.O.L. During Coronavirus Lockdown Civil Rights Crisis

People are being ticketed for watching the sunset from inside their cars. They are being arrested for paddle boarding, letting their children play at a park, and for opening their businesses so they can put food on the table. The draconian coronavirus lockdown and unconstitutional enforcement is the biggest civil rights crisis to hit this country since the democrats imposed segregation in the South. Despite this massive violation of American civil liberties, the American Civil Liberties Union is nowhere to be found.

You’ve seen the stories of how quickly mostly democratic governors and mayors have descended into totalitarian fascism but none of those stories include the words: “And the ACLU has filed suit against this clear violation of civil liberties.”

Since the ACLU is taking this civil rights crisis off, I decided to see what they are occupying their time with during the coronavirus lockdown:

ACLU requests release of medically-vulnerable inmate from Springer Correctional Center

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico filed a petition Friday for Writ of Habeas Corpus in the Eighth Judicial district Court, seeking the release of Kandyce Jaramillo from Springer Correctional Center.

Jaramillo, who was detained on drug possession, suffers from severe asthma, making her especially vulnerable to COVID-19 infection. The ACLU contends that continuing to confine Jaramillo constituTes deliberate indifference to the excessive risk of serious harm of COVID-19 and violates her constitutional right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.

Apparently if you have asthma, you are above the law.

ACLU Lawsuit Seeks Release of More Than 70 ICE Detainees at Wyatt Detention Center

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a class-action lawsuit against federal immigration officials and the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls.

The suit seeks urgent relief for a class of over 70 immigration detainees at the facility by calling for their conditional release and was filed as the ACLU pointed to the count of detainees at the facility infected with COVID-19 has more than doubled in three days.

Also apparently, illegal aliens have the right to roam free in the country infect others with the coronavirus.

ACLU-Kansas Files Petitions For Prisoner Releases

Following a stinging defeat in court, a civil rights group has launched “The Clemency Project” to try to secure the release of Kansas prisoners whose medical conditions make them vulnerable to the coronavirus.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas filed the first round of what it anticipates will be dozens of individualized clemency petitions seeking relief for their clients from the state parole board and Governor Laura Kelly.

So if you have gout, you can’t be held accountable for the crimes you committed?

ACLU sues Florence prison over lack of access to disinfectants

The ACLU of Arizona has filed a lawsuit against the Florence Correctional Complex, alleging that inmates have highly limited access to disinfectants amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The suit claims that inmates have had to uses items like shampoo to try and disinfect phones and showers.

Remind me again which amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear disinfectant?

ACLU seeks inmate release from Morrow jail as coronavirus cases spike

The ACLU of Ohio is seeking the release of 20 people held by immigration authorities at the Morrow County jail, as a coronavirus outbreak spreads through the 80-person jail population.

On Tuesday, the jail held 80 inmates, 47 of whom are detainees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, and one of whom is a Marion County inmate, according to the jail inmate roster.

In an amended complaint filed Tuesday, the ACLU of Ohio asked a federal judge to release 20 immigrants held by ICE, some of whom have underlying medical conditions and who, attorneys argue, are at a heightened risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19 now that the jail has become a “hotbed of COVID-19.”

Not only does having a medical condition excuse you from criminal activity, according to the ACLU, so too does being in the same detention facility as someone with a medical condition. I’ve never heard of “innocence by association” before.

Finally, I found a lawsuit from the ACLU that was related to actual civil liberties, but unfortunately they were suing to get rid of due process:

ACLU Sues Sec. Devos Over New Guidelines That Bolster Due Process Rights

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a nonpartisan interest group that has historically supported individual rights, is suing Education Secretary Betsy DeVos over her new Title IX reforms on college campuses. Just last week, Sec. Devos released the long-awaited reforms to Title IX; her changes represent a complete overhaul of the Obama-era guidelines for Title IX and sexual misconduct cases. The Obama administration’s Title IX policies were biased against the accused, essentially stripping those parties of due process, and created a bogus evidentiary standard for handling sexual assault and rape cases. The previous guidelines paved an avenue for accusers to wrongfully bring claims of sexual misconduct forward, be taken at face value without proper due process, and for the accused to be wrongfully punished.

To top this off, on the ACLU website, they are begging for donations to support their urgent response to COVID-19:

Your gift will fund our critical work to protect voting rights, demand that vulnerable people in prisons, jails and immigration detention centers be released, and fight to ensure reproductive health care remains open and accessible to all who need it. Now more than ever, we the people means all of us.

Gee, the ACLU’s “all of us” leaves out the 37 million Americans forced into unemployment and the millions of businesses owners who can’t operate. I bet they will feel pretty stupid when they realize this omission.

There isn’t one thing in the Constitution that authorizes the government, federal, state, or local, to strip people of their rights like is being done in the coronavirus lockdown. Now is the moment the ACLU claims they’ve been preparing for their entire existence but instead of protecting the rights of Americans forced into poverty by the government, they are busy trying to flood the country with infected criminals and illegal aliens.
