You’d think if there was a streaming service war it would be to land exclusives or deliver original content. That would be great for consumers but unfortunately the streaming service battle going on is to see who can kiss Black Lives Matter’s ass the most. Netflix, Hulu, and the rest don’t much care that their content is getting stagnant, but they all want everyone to know how “woke” they are and the wokeness will probably come with a rate hike.
As cities across the country are burning because losers and thugs are pretending they want justice for George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minnesota, the streaming services have announced they are on the side of terrorism. Here’s Netflix with the opening shot:
To be silent is to be complicit.
Black lives matter. We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators and talent to speak up.
— Netflix (@netflix) May 30, 2020
Do white lives matter too, or no? Also, why does a service that streams episodes of Friends have a duty speak up about anything that doesn’t involve Chandler Bing?
Hulu didn’t want to get left out so they hit back with this:
We support Black lives. Today, and every day. You are seen. You are heard. And we are with you.
— Hulu (@hulu) May 31, 2020
Too bad Hulu doesn’t also support the white lives of the people who mostly make up their customer base. Maybe they won’t be seeing any white people willing to shell out $12 a month for their sorry streaming service.
HBO Max, the new streaming service from HBO (duh), is trying to carve out their market share by alienating most of the market:
“Neither love nor terror makes one blind: indifference makes one blind.” – James Baldwin
We stand with our Black colleagues, employees, fans, actors, storytellers — and all affected by senseless violence. #BlackLivesMatter
— #BlackLivesMatter (@hbomax) May 31, 2020
Obviously they don’t stand with any of their non-black employees and fans, but what about Bill Maher? It seems like if they really stood with Black Lives Matter they would have fired Maher when he dropped an N-bomb on his show.
Amazon Prime, another pretty terrible streaming service, also wanted to take the attention off their crappy interface and lousy selection by jumping on the bandwagon:
— Prime Video (@PrimeVideo) May 31, 2020
“Together we stand with the black community – colleagues, artists, writers, storytellers, producers, our viewers – and all allies in the fight against racism and injustice,” wrote Prime.
Hey, at least Amazon included “allies” meaning that they at least stand with insipid guilty white liberals. There will probably be some backlash for including any kind of white people in this tweet. As many of you know, it is super-racist to imply that the lives of all people from all races are precious.
Disney+ is the only major streaming service that has resisted kissing Black Lives Matter as they loot and destroy our cities. They have all the Star Wars and Marvel movies, plus every episode of the Simpsons, so they actually win this war with better content and less virtue signaling.
