The Democrats are not only the party of slavery, segregation, KKK, etc…but also of canceling anything with ties to those racist institutions. In the funniest thing in the history of Congress, Republican Rep. Louis Gohmert introduced a resolution to ban the democratic party for their history of racism in the same way democrats have cancelled everything and everyone connected to slavery. With democrats in control of the House it’s unlikely this resolution will pass, but it sure does expose them as raging racists and hypocrites, which is why it’s so damn hilarious.
On Wednesday the House voted to remove 11 statues from the Capitol of people who were involved with the Confederacy. The bust of the former Supreme Court Chief Justice Roger Taney, who authored the 1857 Dred Scott decision that black people didn’t have rights was also removed. In addition, the legislation instructs that all art work in the Capitol complex that depicts a person with ties to white supremacy shall be banished.
Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert thought this was a good idea but that it didn’t go far enough, so he introduced a resolution of his own today:
Gohmert reeled off a shocking list of the democratic party’s support for slavery, segregation, and white supremacy. With that, he introduced his resolution:
Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) introduced a Privileged Resolution calling upon Congress to ban any political organization or party that has ever held a public position supportive of slavery or the Confederate States of America.
It also calls for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to remove from the House wing of the U.S. Capitol or any House office building any item that names, symbolizes or mentions any political organization or party that supported slavery or the Confederacy.
“As outlined in the resolution, a great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan,” said Gohmert in a statement.
But wait, there’s more:
“As the country watches violent leftists burn our cities, tear down our statues and call upon every school, military base and city street to be renamed, it is important to note that past atrocities these radicals claim to be so violently offensive were largely committed by members in good standing of the Democratic Party. Whether it be supporting the most vile forms of racism or actively working against Civil Rights legislation, Democrats in this country perpetuated these abhorrent forms of discrimination and violence practically since their party’s inception. To avoid triggering innocent bystanders by the racist past of the Democratic Party, I would suggest they change their name. That is the standard to which they are holding everyone else, so the name change needs to occur,” said Gohmert.
As I said, too f*cking funny. If everything else has to be cancelled, like the democrats claim, then they too should be cancelled.
It’s highly unlikely that the democrats will vote for this, apologize for slavery, or change their name, but just in case, I’ve come up with a few ideas for their new monicker. Obviously appropriate stuff like Socialist of America, American Communist Party and the Know-nothings are already taken but there’s a couple of other good ones still available:
