Cocaine Mitch was on fire today. After getting pestered by the liberal media to congratulate Joe Biden on his big “win,” Senate Majority Leader McConnell reminded the press who determines the winner of a presidential election. Spoiler alert: it’s not the liberal media.
The liberal media was quick to call the election for Joe Biden despite widespread and obvious fraud. President Trump is contesting the votes in several states and he has solid cases in all of them. The election is far from over, but the liberal media is trying to protect Biden, their preferred candidate, and are pressuring Republicans to accept their flawed version of events.
Mitch McConnell isn’t having any of it and let reporters know on Tuesday as they continued their harassment campaign:
“Until the Electoral College votes, anyone who is running for office can exhaust concerns in counting in any court of appropriate jurisdiction,” said McConnell. “It’s not unusual and should not be alarming. At some point here we’ll find out, finally, who was certified in each of these states and the Electoral College will determine the winner.”
That was the nice answer and here was the boom:
“The president has every right to look into allegations and to request recounts under the law and, notably, the Constitution gives no role in this process to wealthy media corporations,” said McConnell. “The projections and commentary of the press do not get veto power over the legal rights of any citizen, including the president of the United States.”
Nobody was more crushed that the liberal media who feel like they have limited powers.
This comes a day after McConnell annihilated democrats who were complaining that Trump hasn’t conceded the stolen election attempt:
“Let’s not have any lectures, no lectures, about how the president should immediately, cheerfully accept preliminary election results from the same characters who just spent four years refusing to accept the validity of the last election and who insinuated that this one would be illegitimate too if they lost again – only if they lost,” said McConnell on the Senate floor Monday.
Good point but democrats wouldn’t be hypocrites if they recognized their hypocrisy so it probably fell on deaf ears.
Here’s the thing, Hillary Clinton did concede in 2016, but she wishes she hadn’t. Following her loss to Trump, her proxies launched all kinds of efforts to overturn the vote. There were recounts and calls for the Electoral College to revolt and install Hillary as the president.
On top of that, in 2000, democrat Al Gore didn’t concede for a month while the recount in Florida happened. Actually, he conceded and then took it back for a while. I guess he was for conceding before he was against it, which is how democrats are on issues.
The point is, democrats have plenty history in contesting presidential elections and they have no right feigning outrage that a Republican is doing it now. Even less considering what a bad job they did in trying to steal this one.
In the meantime, the liberal media will enter a period of mourning upon learning that they don’t have the Constitutional power to elect presidents. Actually, they’ll probably “fact-check” McConnell and determine that not only is he wrong but also that he’s destroying democracy by saying it. They wouldn’t be fake news if they recognized the fake news they spew out.
