If there was one childhood toy I couldn’t have lived without it was the astronomical number of plastic army men I possessed. I had Americans, Krauts, Japs, Brits, Red Army, Gooks, etc. from all makers. I had ‘The Guns of Navaronne’ play set, armor, arty, air support, etc. But there was always that one dude in the pose that made no sense to me. He was always worthless to me as a commander so I always put him on point he was invariably the first to die.
And looks like I wasn’t the only one who pondered this man’s usefulness in combat . . .
