The war on whitey rages on.
The “woke” inquisition has chalked up another W in the win column after a Minnesota dinner theater abruptly called off on staging a production of the fairy tale ”Cinderella” because basically, the cast was too white.
Citing irreconcilable differences with the quest for “diversity” the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres rang down the curtain on the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic retelling of the magical story of a young woman who was repressed by her wicked stepmother and sisters, a hellish trio of bitches on wheels only to be transformed by a wondrous enchanted fairy godmother into a princess who falls in love with her dreamboat prince.
Unfortunately in the dumbed-down and snake-mean land of “woke” fascism, there are no happy endings and before the glass slipper even dropped, the magic carriage turned back into a pumpkin.
According to a statement on the Chanhassen Dinner Theaters website; “We did not cancel Cinderella because of content,”
They also left open the possibility of putting on the musical in the future after white cast members have presumably been purged “We are looking forward to bringing it to our stage in the future. But we as a company decided our original casting didn’t go far enough in our commitment, and instead of waiting another full year to implement these important changes, we chose now.”

Via The Washington Examiner, “‘Cinderella’ production canceled over concerns the cast is too white”:
A planned production of Cinderella has been canceled over concerns that the cast was too white.
“It was 98% white,” artistic director Michael Brindisi said of the cast. “That doesn’t work with what we’re saying we’re going to do.”
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres in Minnesota has now decided to scrap the project altogether and will instead turn to producing Footloose in 2022.
“After careful consideration and with our ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres has made the decision to cancel our upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” the company said in a statement. “Our hope in beginning the production process again with a new title will allow us to put into practice an intentional process based on the work we have been doing towards equity and inclusivity.”
Brindisi, who originally pointed out the lack of diversity in the cast, said that Chanhassen considered recasting the show. Instead, the company opted to “scrap this and start fresh with a clean slate.” While some of the cast members were disappointed by the decision, Brindisi said they “got it and that they respected the very hard decision we had to make.
The theatre also issued the following “anti-racism update” on its website:
We are excited to announce that following The Music Man, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres will be producing Footloose! This show was hugely successful for us when it ran 11 years ago, and we are excited to explore it again in a new context. Details about auditions will be announced in the early summer. In addition, we will soon be accepting submissions for replacements in our current production of The Music Man, with a strong priority placed on casting BIPOC artists to join the cast. This announcement will be posted on our website and MN Playlist in upcoming weeks.
It’s probably understandable that some businesses within striking distance of Minneapolis may want to adopt a stance that is compatible with Black Lives Matter with the city ready to go up in flames now that the George Floyd murder trial is about to commence.
Perhaps it’s only a desire for self-preservation and not the typical sniveling cowardice and capitulation to the “woke” mob.
