Cop-Hating Leftist Tishaura Jones Wins St. Louis MO Mayoral Race—As Homicides Soar in St. Louis City to 50-Year High

Former St. Louis Treasurer Tishaura Jones defeated fellow Democrat Cara Spencer to win the St. Louis Mayoral race. This from thegatewaypundit.com.

Tishaura Jones is a radical leftist who is very critical of St. Louis City policing.

This is a sad tale of another once-great American city going from dire straights to inevitable worse straights–all while being led by democrats. A great brewery town also with MLB, NFL NHL histories. Going, going, going to hell under the weight of democrat malfeasance.

The murder rate in St. Louis City hit a 50-year high in 2020.

Tishaura Jones said the city’s brightest days are “ahead of us and not behind us.” This isn’t likely under her leadership.

Jones  ran on:

  • Jones said that she supported restructuring the police department’s budget to reallocate funding for mental health services, job training programs, and treating substance abuse.

  • Jones said that she would reinstate the position of deputy mayor for racial equity and require the city to view decision-making and expanded economic opportunities through the lens of racial equity.

  • Jones said that she supported social distancing, wearing masks, and practicing proper hygiene to combat COVID-19. Jones said the city must begin preparing for the next crisis to make the city more resilient.

KMOV, one of the local St. Louis television stations, reported:

Jones will become mayor four years after losing to Lyda Krewson by 888 votes in the Democratic primary. She has served as St. Louis Treasurer since 2013 and before that, was a Missouri State Representative.

Jones, who has touted herself as a progressive, has said she would restructure the police department and reallocate money to substance abuse and mental health.

“I can promise you this, I can promise you this. I’ll get up every day, day in day out, and I will work for you,” said Jones. “I believe St. Louis’s brightest days are ahead of us and not behind us.”

Tuesday marked the first general election in the city since ‘approval voting’ was adopted. The election was officially non-partisan, with the top two vote-getters in the March 2 primary facing off; Jones also finished first in that contest, with 56 percent of the vote compared to 46 for Spencer.

What say you Def-Con News readers? St. Louis MO was certainly not on a road to “recovery” prior to this election, but now a paved road isn’t even in sight. St. Louis has become less safe over the past several decades and the downtown night life has suffered even prior to the Covid pandemic. St. Louis MO, another great historic American city lost to democrat party mismanagement.
