Manchin Throws a Body Block to Biden’s Effort to Blow up Our Constitutional System

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) signaled, once again, on Sunday that he might be trouble standing in the way of Joe Biden’s agenda. This from redstate.com.

Manchin appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash, and he made it clear that he would not be part of blowing up the Senate by killing the filibuster.

From Fox News:

“I am not going to be part of blowing up this Senate of ours or basically this democracy of ours or the republic that we have,” Manchin said, referring to the Democratic push to eliminate the filibuster. “If we have a 51-vote threshold in the Senate, the same as the House–the House wasn’t designed to be partisan.”

“The House was designed to be hot as a fire cracker. We were designed to cool it off, and that’s the Founding Fathers. It was a brilliant strategy they looked at, so why can’t we try to make this work?” Manchin continued.

Manchin further explained that if they blew up the filibuster, they’d have “violent swings” every time a new party took over in Congress and that wasn’t the intent of the Founders.

He’d previously written an op-ed against eliminating the filibuster and he’s standing by it.

“The filibuster is a critical tool to protecting that input and our democratic form of government. That is why I have said it before and will say it again to remove any shred of doubt: There is no circumstance in which I will vote to eliminate or weaken the filibuster,” Manchin wrote. “The time has come to end these political games, and to usher a new era of bipartisanship where we find common ground on the major policy debates facing our nation.”

Manchin had previously expressed concerns about the infrastructure bill as presently written.

Bottom line? Manchin may be one of the last Democrats left trying to bring a little sense to his party, maybe along with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). The rest of the Democrats seem all in to destroy our system.

So naturally, the plan is to to say that this upholding the Constitution is somehow ‘racist’ as Al Sharpton revealed.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) said that it was “insulting” that Manchin preferred to uphold the Senate rules rather than maintain a “relationship with the minority of voters in America.” It sounds like he’s right there with the plan to smear Manchin and Sinema.
