As Crime Soars, Democrats Blame Republicans For Defunding The Police

Ever since drug abuser George Floyd died of an overdose, democrats have been screaming to defund the police. Liberal-run cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Portland have actually slashed their law enforcement budgets and not so uncoincidentally, crime has soared. Rather than blame themselves, democrats have now developed a BS narrative that the spike in violent crime is because Republicans defunded the police.

This all began on Fox News, if you can believe it. Here’s Chris Wallace on Sunday showing why conservative viewers have been abandoning the network:

Wallace pointed out to Republican Rep. Jim Banks that Biden’s COVID-19 relief package, which passed, included $350 billion for the police. He then played a video of Biden saying that most of that money was for social workers and community intervention programs that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

“Congressman Banks, you voted against that package, against the $350B, just like every other Republican in the House & Senate — so can’t you make the argument that it’s you and Republicans who are defunding the police?” Wallace asked.

Banks tried to respond, but Wallace interrupted him and threw out Biden’s talking points because he’s apparently a member of the administration now.

Here’s why this is insanely dumb: Whatever money there is in Biden’s COVID-19 relief package is new spending, so even if it was blocked by Republicans, it wouldn’t be defunding anything. Also, the f*cking bill passed, so Republicans didn’t defund a damn thing.

Since idiocy is infectious on the left, and because the memo went out, all democrats are now playing up the lie that Republicans have defunded the police and that’s why crime is soaring. Here’s White House press secretary Jen Psaki being a lying’ Psaki of shit:

Fox’s Peter Doocy asked how it was possible for democrats to claim Republican’s defunded the police by not supporting Biden’s American Rescue Plan COVID-19 relief bill.

“The president did mention that the American Rescue Plan, the state and local funding, something that was supported by the president, a lot of democrats who supported and voted for the bill, could help insure local cops were kept on the beat in communities across the country. As you know, didn’t receive a single Republican vote,” replied Psaki.

Note the use of the word “could” because that’s not a thing that was actually in the bill. Biden didn’t say the bill would help keep cops on the beat, he said there was money to hire new cops. Also, the bill did pass so again, Republicans didn’t defund the police.

Here’s White House Rapid response director Mike Gwin trying to turn this lie into a fact by repeating it:

If the plan is providing significant money to hire police, doesn’t that mean that nobody, including Republicans, defunded the police? These people think we’re all very stupid.

Weirdly enough, there isn’t one single Republican on the Oakland City Council.

Democrat-run cities defunded their police departments and violent crime went through the roof. It’s not hard to figure out the connection here but democrats are not known for admitting their mistakes. It’s so much easier for them to blame others for their destructive incompetence and thus the “Republicans defunded the police” line of bullshit was born.
