WATCH: Republican Congressional Candidate Vernon Jones Calls Out The History Of Racism Among Democrats

Over the weekend, Vernon Jones, a conservative democrat-turned-Republican running for Congress in Georgia, called out democrats for their documented support of slavery.

He then pointed to the crucial role of Republicans who gave their lives to end slavery in America.

This from thegatewaypundit.com.

In a video posted to Twitter on Saturday, Jones called on followers to go out and vote to “take back the country.”

The true history he shared briefly tells the role of democrats and Republicans in the history of slavery in the U.S.

Jones said in the video:

I had to pause for the cause because right now, as we are about to celebrate Juneteenth.

He added:

I’m reminded that Juneteenth was brought about because of what [d]emocrats did to black people, enslaving black people, when it was Republicans that freed the black people.

Jones went on the condemn the democrat party, saying:

[I]ronically, when they teach about Juneteenth, we don’t hear anything about [how] the [d]emocrats were the ones who wanted slavery, and they tried to protect and secure and keep slavery.

He noted that:

[I]t was Republicans who got out, fought, [and] died to free the slaves.

Many users on Twitter replied, praising Jones for his remarks and thanking him for his boldness to share the truth. Others shared expanded facts relating to the actions of the democrat party throughout history.

Jones has been a stark figure for democrats defecting to join the Republican party. He highlighted his reasons during a speech at the Republican National Convention in 2020

During his speech, he said:

The [democrat party] does not want black people to leave their mental plantation.

He highlighted ongoing democrat efforts to make the minority group dependent on their policies and leadership.
