Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her Squad as well as some other progressively insane democrats have demanded that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi strip the Supreme Court of their power to decide the Constitutionality of things. This is how you say you don’t understand how our government works without saying you don’t understand how our government works.
Squad members AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Cory Bush, and Jamaal Bowman joined several other lunatic leftist Congresscritters to draft this letter to Nancy Pelosi:
We write to urge your support for restricting the Supreme Court’s appellate jurisdiction in the areas of abortion, marriage equality, non-procreative intimacy, and contraception. In doing so, we can ensure that, as Congress takes legislative action to codify each of these fundamental rights, a radical, restless, and newly constituted majority on the Court cannot further undermine the protections we would enact.
In essence, AOC’s Squad are demanding that Pelosi use power that she doesn’t have to take away power from the Supreme Court that she can’t. Sounds reasonable.
The Supreme Court’s devastating decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022) is unprecedented.
As a result of the Supreme Court’s actions, millions of people will no longer have access to abortion care, a crisis disproportionately impacting women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and the undocumented.
Gay people don’t need abortions and illegal aliens live primarily in blue states that allow abortion and government handouts to illegals.
The House of Representatives already passed the Women’s Health Protection Act (“WHPA”) last fall to codify the constitutional right to abortion, and if this bill becomes law, we can expect that legal challenges will eventually come before the Supreme Court again. Once more, the constitutional right to abortion would be put at risk. We are concerned by the Court’s dismantling of other statutes duly enacted by Congress, including the Voting Rights Act and the Clean Air Act.
That certainly sounds like an admission from The Squad that their abortion bill is unconstitutional. Luckily, they put their collective intellect to work and came up with a solution:
The solution is to prevent the Supreme Court from reviewing the constitutionality or legality of the WHPA, which can be done in the next version of the WHPA that we pass this term.
So they will just add a line in their bill that says the Supreme Court can’t say this is unconstitutional? Why didn’t anyone ever think of that before?
Probably because it’s moronic. I can see that none of these democrats have passed 5th grade civics, which is weird for a group of people who are employed as U.S. Representatives.
Here’s a little recap for AOC and The Squad: Congress makes the laws, the president enforces the laws, and the Supreme Court decides if the laws are Constitutional. This is the separation of powers that forms the foundation of our system of government and the democrats want to obliterate it.
Keep in mind that these same democrats cry and scream that Donald Trump’s mean tweets almost destroyed our democracy and yet here they are literally trying to destroy our democracy. And yes, I know that we are a representative republic and not a direct democracy, I’m just using the words of the democrats.
