If you are going to commit a crime, New York is the place to be. A man who threatened to kill Fox News personalities and members of Congress was given deferred prosecution instead of a trail and jail and when he broke the conditions of that deal, he still didn’t get in trouble.
The New York Post reports that Jeffrey Rodriguez from NYC made a series of threats on social media against Fox News personalities, members of Congress, and Trump supporters. None of the victims have been named but you can probably guess they are all Republican/conservative. From March 2020 to December 2021 Rodriguez made hundreds of threats before he was finally arrested.
In a video post, Rodriguez threatened a sitting U.S. Senator, saying, “I’m killin’ they ass, you think I’m jokin’, and you gonna know I f*ckin’ did it.”
In a threat against a sitting U.S. Congresswoman, he said, “Ma’am, you are dead. Make sure we understand one another. You are dead … Smile. I am going to kill you.”
In a threat against a Fox News personality he said, “I’m going to look you in your f*cking eye and I’m gonna take your f*ckin’ life, and everyone that knows I took your life is gonna know why.”
In a post about another member of Fox news, Rodriguez wrote, “Lmfao. If this albino only knew what I am capable of doing. I would skin a Nazi ALIVE. Don’t think I forgot. Just because you moved away from the mornings doesn’t mean I’m not going to split your top.”
In a post about a female on Fox News, he wrote, “I plan on doing something after I hit this one with a bottle. The audacity. LMFAO. I know where she lives and where she runs, etc. I’m going [to] box cut her across her face, bro.”
After getting arrested and charged with six-counts of with cyberstalking and threatening interstate communications, a Manhattan federal prosecutor decided the best thing for this violently disturbed scumbag was a deferred prosecution. All Rodriguez had to do was refrain from threatening any of his victims on social media for one year and it would be like it never happened.
That’s a pretty sweet deal considering the severity of his crimes but Rodriguez couldn’t even do it. The New York Post also reports that earlier this month, he tagged one of his victims in an Instagram Post.
Does that mean that they would rescind Rodriguez’s deferred prosecution and throw his sorry ass in jail? Not so much. The prosecutor requested that the judge merely “admonish” Rodriguez and tell him not to do it again.
Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses told Rodriguez, “You’ve been lucky thus far.” She also suggested that he, “get a grip on [his] conduct.”
While I said it’s good to commit crimes in New York, it’s also helpful if the victims of your crimes are Republicans and conservatives. There are people doing hard time right now for threatened to kill AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Nancy Pelosi.
Lastly, is it weird that this asshole made hundreds of death threats against Republicans and conservatives over the course of a year and a half on social media and still has his accounts when I was suspended from Twitter for “dead-naming” Chelsea Manning?
