Kamala Harris is a master word salad chef and her particular style is to latch onto a word or phrase and repeat numerous times in a meaningless statement. Today she whipped up one these word salads, gushing about yellow school buses, and talking to people like they were stupid.
Kamala Harris was in Seattle, promoting one of the democrats’ cash-grabs to give “free” electric vehicles to schools. Right off the bat she was in pique Kamaltoe form:
“So here’s the thing, who doesn’t love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if f you love a yellow school bus, right? Just, there’s something about, and most of us, many of us went to school on the yellow school bus, right?” Harris said.
Are there any other colors for school buses? Did anyone go to school on a red school bus?
Harris continued this by explaining it like she was talking to 3-year-olds.
“The excitement and joy of going to school to be with your favorite teacher, to be with your best friend, and to learn. The school bus takes us there,” Harris said.
Holy shit! School buses take people to school? That’s the first I’ve heard about this. I wonder where the airport shuttle takes people to.
“And in America today, 25 million children go to school on a yellow school bus,” Harris added.
Hang on, I’m still trying to process the idea that school busses take people to school.
“When I think about what the experience should be for our children of going to school on the school bus, I think about the fact that it should be about maximizing that experience for them,” said Harris.
Well, if a school bus takes kids to school as Harris claims, the maximum the experience it could be would be getting them to school.
“Starting the next school year, next school year, to roll these busses out, pick up our kids, and take them to school. That’s our announcement today,” Harris said.
It seems like if this isn’t something that’s going to happen until almost a year from now that it was pretty pointless for Kamala Harris to stand in front of yellow school buses and gush about yellow school buses, doesn’t it?
And maybe the pointlessness of this was the point. The White House keeps trying to relaunch Kamala Harris as someone who isn’t vapid and annoying but she keeps making an ass of herself and embarrassing the Biden administration. These are followed by periods where the White House puts her on ice and tries to retool her.
Obviously the White House has given up on Harris and is no longer willing to give her another shot. The midterms are upon us and instead of campaigning for vulnerable democrats, Kamala Harris is sent to talk about electric yellow school busses that won’t even be put into service until next year.
I can’t think of a better way to gauge how important the White House sees Kamala Harris as than this. They’ve metaphorically put her on the short yellow school bus for “special” kids, while the serous people tackle the serious issues.
