Congress just passed the Respect for Marriage Act which protects same-sex and interracial marriages that were already protected by Supreme Court decisions and the Constitution. “Jihad Squad” member, Ilhan Omar is psyched because she claims “marriages like hers” are now protected, which seems odd since the only thing she’s really famous for is marrying her brother.
Same sex marriages were legalized by the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision and interracial marriages are protected by several Constitutional amendments. Because democrats think redundancy makes them look productive, they and a few Republicans passed a bill that protects things that are already protected.
The Hill reports:
Senators on Tuesday passed legislation cementing federal protections for same-sex marriage, a historic step that follows months of bipartisan negotiations and puts the landmark bill just steps away from becoming law.
The Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act in a 61-36 vote, with 12 Republicans joining forces with all Democrats present to advance the bill across the Capitol complex. The measure required 60 votes to pass.
The bill had previously passed in the House so it’s headed to Joe Biden’s desk, where he will hold a signing ceremony, which will inevitably be very weird.
Adding to the sheer uselessness of this soon-to-be law is that it doesn’t actually add any new protections. If Obergefell v. Hodges were to be overturned, like Roe v. Wade recently was, the individual states could ban same-sex marriages. It also doesn’t force private individuals or companies to accept gay marriages, meaning bakers can still refuse to make cakes for lesbian weddings.
Despite all of that, nobody is more excited about this pointless law than Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar who celebrated with a tweet:
It’s 2022 and finally marriages like mine will be protected by law 😔 pic.twitter.com/rdBi5Ylv96

Marriages like hers? Oh, she must mean that time she married her own brother, but a quick read of the Respect for Marriage Act doesn’t mention protecting incestuous relationships. When Omar gets around to reading the bill she voted for, she’s going to be very disappointed.
One of the better things to come about with Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is that the fact checking has gotten a whole lot funnier:

That might actually be fake but it doesn’t make it any less hilarious.
Seriously, Ilhan Omar is bragging, though probably not on purpose, that she married her brother. Taking it to the next level, she has previously stated that mentioning the fact that she married her brother was racist. With that tweet, Omar not only boasted about incest, she also committed a hate crime against herself.
These are the types of problems democrats run into by being so completely full of shit. Everything they say will eventually come back to bite them on the ass because hypocrisy and lies are not good companions.
Then again, neither are a brother and sister in a bond of holy matrimony.
