Shannon Watts founded the faux grassroots anti-gun group, Moms Demand Action, which counts social media likes as members and couldn’t put together a 10-person protest if it tried. After being subsidized by gun hating billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the liberal media promoted this non-existent group as a major force. It seems that Watts is tired of pretending and will step down from her group at the end of the year.
Despite all of the media attention for Moms demand Action, the group has literally done nothing but get media attention. Having accomplished nothing in 10 years, Shannon Watts feels like it’s time to move on and will resign her position as head bitch in charge at the end of 2023.
New York Magazine’s The Cut did an exit interview with Watts that was unintentionally funny. When asked what she knows now that she didn’t 10 years ago when she started MDA, Watts confirmed what most of us already knew:
“I think there’s something to be said for naïveté and the fact that I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I first launched Moms Demand Action. I knew nothing about gun violence, or the legislative process, and I certainly didn’t know anything about organizing a grassroots movement,” said Watts.
So she started an anti-gun group without knowing anything about guns? I, for one am shocked.
Not really, as Watts demonstrated over and over again she doesn’t know shit about guns or the 2nd Amendment that protects ownership of guns. Even funnier, at no point in the interview did Watts claim she had learned anything about firearms in her tenure as MDA HBIC.
While Watts admits that she doesn’t know jack squat about firearms, she is pretty sure they are racist. This was her response to being asked what she has learned in the past 10 years:
“When you learn about the issue and look at it holistically, you see that mass shootings and school shootings make up about 1 percent of the gun violence in this country. It’s the everyday gun violence that disproportionately impacts Black and brown people: domestic gun violence, gun suicide, and unintentional shootings,” Watts said.
I wonder what color the people behind the triggers that “dilsproportiatley” impacts black and brown people are. Black and brown people killing black and brown people isn’t racism, lady.
Watts went on to say it is her duty as a white savior to stop black and brown people from killing each other:
“After every mass shooting, other people who look like me decide it’s time for them to get involved. I believe it’s my job, along with my team, to help volunteers understand the causes of these crises as well as the solutions,” said Watts.
Did she ever try telling black and brown people to knock it off?
“This goes hand in hand with making sure we’re committed to diversity both as a movement and an organization and making sure that both our staff and volunteers are diverse,” Watts said.
Moms Demand Action is so diverse they have 3 different types of white people: guilty white liberals, uptight liberal assholes, and Karens.
With Shannon Watts leaving MDA, I can only conclude that the gravy train is over. Michael Bloomberg is probably cutting funding and she’s found she doesn’t quite have the passion to be full of shit about guns for free.
