Director James Cameron Cut ‘Gun Violence’ From Avatar 2: The Way Of Water

Hollywood hypocrites are anti-gun extremists while at the same time, make piles of money glorifying guns. Director James Cameron, who has made some of the most violent gun fetish movies ever, is showing his bullshit credentials by cutting 10 whole minutes of gunplay from his 3-plus hour long new movie, Avatar: The Way of Water.

I’ve never seen the first Avatar movie because it looks stupid and is long as hell. I have no plans to see the sequel either, because it’s look even dumber and is somehow longer.

In an interview with Esquire Middle East (WTF? is that?) Cameron complained that he got too rich and famous glorifying gun use:

It turns out that Cameron, who is known as an action filmmaker, he admits, believes that his films have often been too violent, and the heavy amounts of gun violence that play into films such as Terminator 2: Judgment Day and True Lies he believes have no place in moral moviemaking in the current state of the world.

“I look back on some films that I’ve made, and I don’t know if I would want to make that film now. I don’t know if I would want to fetishize the gun, like I did on a couple of Terminator movies 30+ years ago, in our current world. What’s happening with guns in our society turns my stomach,” Cameron said.

If he didn’t make the first Terminator film, he wouldn’t have made any films as that’s what literally launched his career. The movie he made before that was Piranha II: The Spawning and it’s unlikely a piece of shit like that would lead to anything but doing B-movies for the rest of his life.

Without Terminator, there would be no Aliens, no Oscars for Titanic, and no Avatar. I’m fine with that last thing, but I do loves me some Terminator and Aliens.

“I’m happy to be living in New Zealand where they just banned all assault rifles two weeks after that horrific mosque shooting a couple of years ago,” added Cameron.

We’re just as happy living in the United States where the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution guarantees our right to keep and bear arms. As a bonus, we’re also happy that at least one Hollywood liberal douchebag has left the United States.

Cameron grappled with his current aversion to gratuitous violence while making Avatar: The Way of Water, deciding in the end to cut out a lot of gun action that he deemed unnecessary.

“I actually cut about 10 minutes of the movie targeting gunplay action. I wanted to get rid of some of the ugliness, to find a balance between light and dark. You have to have conflict, of course. Violence and action are the same thing, depending on how you look at it. This is the dilemma of every action filmmaker, and I’m known as an action filmmaker,” said Cameron.

10 whole minutes? The film is 3 hours and 12 minutes long. He should have cut that down to a watchable hour and forty-five minutes, but even then I still wouldn’t watch because of how dumb it looks.

This is the ultimate Hollywood hypocrite empty gesture. James Cameron cut 10 minutes of gunplay from his long-ass new movie because “guns are bad, mkay” but he literally made a name for himself with violent action films that glorify gun use.
