Nicky’s Corner: Has Anheuser-Busch learned it’s lesson?

Okay, looks like we have a twofer on Nicky’s Corner today. I couldn’t decide which to save for next week, both seemed important timeline-wise and important to my sense of well-being. And even though this is an opinion piece, my opinion, I’m filling it in the Woke category

I wasn’t going to weigh in on this but. I know… I know anything before the words but is bullshit. Or as my father used to say only shit and hot air come from but.

I was doing a little research for the weekly Monday Nicky’s Corner article. During that time I saw a few stories on Anheuser-Busch and how they have new ads, and they seem to be distancing themselves from the Dylan Mulvaney controversy. I thought who cares. I read a recent stock analyst article saying that AB has a strong dividend and they have been upgraded to a buy from a hold in the last week. And I was curious after seeing a few commercials on television. I was watching a program on World War I, over the weekend, they had a 4 or 5-hour marathon on the subject. History, especially wartime history fascinates me. Anything from Roman times to the present. There are a few shows and movies that I can’t watch, I don’t like movies on war, but I do like fact-based documentaries. But I digress.

So, a newer ad on American Heroes Channel points some light on AB giving money to the families of some of our fallen heroes in the form of scholarships. It showed a few of the recipients of this program thanking AB and saying without AB and all their help these children of fallen military men and women wouldn’t have been able to afford college. I’ll be the first to admit I have a soft spot for all things and anyone willing to aid our men and women in the armed services, veterans, or their children.

Honestly, at this point, I’m torn. My loyalty to our heroes, my sense of patriotism, and my view that people and companies deserve a 2nd chance are being tested. Then I remembered they didn’t fire the woman that made this all happen. They didn’t come out and say we screwed up. They glossed over this and tried to downplay it. They wanted to walk the fence. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Maybe I am a prick like my father said. I want to forgive AB, I’m willing to forgive AB, but I won’t forgive them till they can say ‘We f***** up’. Till they come clean I will not forgive, and even if I do forgive I will not forget, I will never buy another of their products, but I won’t bad mouth them. I will always remember that they made a mistake. Not out of spite, I may be a prick but I’m not a complete asshole. I could forgive them if they made an honest apology.

Up to this point, I don’t see that effort. I have heard and I believe One “Oh Shit” can erase a thousand “Attaboys”. And to be honest these last few years I haven’t seen AB trying to earn any Attaboys. AB claimed they were disappointed in the NFL, but that didn’t stop them from renewing a contract up until the 2026-2027 season. I’m disappointed in the NFL too, and I turned my back on them, cut all ties, and have not watched a minute of any game since they allowed anyone to take a knee during the National Anthem. I don’t recall AB saying the NFL went too far there. Taking a knee during the National Anthem isn’t free speech, it is an insult. It shows a lack of respect for every veteran that ever put on the uniform. And it was a bridge too far for me to tolerate. I will never watch another game as long as I live. Further, no one will ever watch an NFL game on any device I own. The NFL is done. And until AB says we screwed up, admits they made a mistake, and holds the employees that spit on all our women by allowing an insane male to claim he is a woman and insult all women everywhere they can sod off too.
