A sanctuary location (city, county, state) is a place run by liberals that refuses to cooperate with federal immigration officials in turning over dangerous illegal immigrants. The stated purpose of these sanctuary policies is to protect the community, which makes about as much sense as preventing forrest fires by dropping napalm on the woods. A sanctuary county in New Jersey got a detainer request from ICE on a violent illegal immigrant, but they ignored it and set this scumbag free. He just murdered 3 people and for some weird reason the community doesn’t feel any safer. Could it be that liberal polices are garbage?
23-year-old Luis Rodrigo Perez is a Mexican national who is in this country illegally. He was arrested last year for domestic violence in Middlesex County, NJ. ICE put a detainer on him to take custody and begin deportation proceedings. Middlesex however is a sanctuary county and they instead set this asshole free in December 2017.
NJ.com reports that Perez used his get-out-of-jail-free card to move to Springfield, Missouri. There he took up residence at a house, but was kicked out for being kind of a dick. He then began staying at 21-year-old Sabrina Starr’s house. Starr stole a gun and traded it to Perez for some tattoos and everything was cool, for a while at least.
Perez couldn’t shake the anger of being kicked out of that first house so he took his newly acquired gun and went back last week to express his displeasure. He shot and killed 38-year-old Steven Marler and then when 23-year-old Aaron Hampton randomly showed up, Perez shot and killed him too. A witness said the victims could be heard begging for their lives.
Perez was riding high after the killings so he returned to Sabrina Star’s house, where he shot and killed her too. Why? It’s hard to say, but apparently this guy is kind of a dick.
Perez’s girlfriend from New Jersey, presumably the one he beat the shit out of, hopped on a bus and came to help her man destroy evidence. He would have gotten away with it if he weren’t so insanely stupid. Perez posted on Facebook that he was trying to trade his gun because it was “dirty” and “got bodies” on it.
Perez was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder as well as 8 additional felonies. If only there were some way to have stopped this guy before he took 3 innocent lives. Oh wait, there was a very easy way as explained by ICE Field Office Director of ERO Newark John Tsoukaris:
“We have tried unsuccessfully to work with Middlesex County Jail in the interest of public safety to accept detainers and to contact ICE prior to releasing criminals. There have been other cases where ICE detainers were not honored and those released went on to commit serious crimes. In this most recent case, Perez had a violent history, but despite that, the detainer was not honored. We hope that this tragic turn of events forces Middlesex to reconsider its policy and that the local elected officials stop protecting criminal aliens,” said Tsoukaris.
“This tragedy might have been avoided had it not been for the reckless policy required of the Middlesex County Jail by their county officials,” added Tsoukaris
A sentiment shared by ICE Acting Executive Associate Director Corey Price:
“Yet again, an ICE detainer was ignored and a dangerous criminal alien was released to the streets and is now charged with killing three people. Had ICE’s detainer request in December 2017 been honored by Middlesex County Jail, Luis Rodrigo Perez would have been placed in deportation proceedings and likely sent home to his country – and three innocent people might be alive today. It is past time that localities realize the perils of dangerous sanctuary policies and resume their primary goal of protecting their residents,” said Price.
All liberal polices are bullshit, but most don’t literally kill people like sanctuary policies do. If the goal is to make communities safer, the last way to achieve that is by releasing violent criminals into them. It seems dumb that I have to explain that, but liberals are not very bright.
