As if there was any doubt that they aren’t a serious political party, the democrats plan to use their newfound majority in the House to investigate President Trump for saying mean things to the liberal media. The leftist fake news industry has always been the propaganda ministry for the Democratic Party, so this looks like a little quid pro quo from the dems. Despite all their promises to help out working families it appears that the democrats’ number one priority is protecting Jim Acosta’s feelings.
California Rep. Adam “Shifty” Schiff did an interview with Axios and he guaranteed the democrats are planning to look into Trump’s gratuitous use of the words “fake news.”
Until now, all Trump critics could do is complain about his escalating attacks on the media. With subpoena power and public hearings, the incoming House Democratic majority can demand emails and testimony to see if Trump used “the instruments of state power to punish the press,” Schiff said.
“It is very squarely within our responsibility to find out,” added Schiff.
Again, these are not serious people. This is the soon-to-be head of the House Intelligence Committee saying that he and the democrats have a responsibility to find out if Trump is abusing his power by calling the liberal media “fake news” when they print and broadcast false information. How about an investigation into the NYT, WaPo, CNN, and NBC for consistently spreading lies to attack the freely-elected President of the United States?
That won’t happen because democrats only know how to waste time and money, so obviously they want to pour resources into this ridiculous pursuit. Actually, this does have the potential to be fairly entertaining. Just imagine CNN’s Jim Acosta tearfully testifying before the House how Trump made him sad by calling him a “rude terrible person.” That should be worth a laugh or two.
Where were the calls for investigations from democrats when Obama was jailing and prosecuting reporters and their sources? Where were the cries that Obama was abusing his power and destroying democracy when he restricted access to the press? Where was the outrage when Obama continuously attacked Fox News? Oh yeah, Obama was a democrat and things are only bad when Republicans do them. Sorry, I totally forgot about that.
House democrats have already said they intend to investigate President Trump on that Russian collusion nonsense that has been a dead-end street for almost two years now. They also plan to investigate his taxes, his real estate holdings, and his “racism.” Additionally they will attempt an impeachment of both him and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. With this “fake news” investigation that doesn’t leave much time to pass unconstitutional gun control laws and raise the shit out of taxes on the middle class.
Maybe the dumbest thing about this Democratic party agenda is the they think they actually matter. Whatever cockamamie schemes the House democrats come up with will simply be laughed out of existence by the GOP-controlled Senate. They won’t be passing any legislation and they sure as hell aren’t impeaching anyone.
What is going to happen with this nuttiness is that come 2020 the American people are going to look at what the democrats did and flip the House right back over to the Republicans. In addition to wasting time and money, democrats also waste their opportunities. They have been given two years with a little bit of power and they will do nothing but prove to voters that they should never be in charge of anything.
