Politico Floats Independent Biden/Romney Ticket To Destroy Trump In 2020

Democrat Joe Biden has run for president 3 times and never made it out of the primaries. Republican Mitt Romney has run twice and never got a chance to wear his magic underwear in the White House. No independent presidential candidate has ever done anything but finish a distant third place. What if there were a way to combine these two losers on a losing ticket to challenge Donald Trump in 2020? That’s exactly what liberal Politico is proposing, only they think a triple-negative makes a positive and this Biden/Romney independent bid is the key to knocking off President Trump in the next election.

According to Politico, Joe Biden should be the next occupant of the White House because they agree with the former VP that he’s the, “most qualified person in the country to be president.” The problem, as the liberal website sees it, is that Biden would be “cannibalized” by the far-left lunatics considering running for the Democratic Party nomination.

Other Democratic candidates with more ambition than ability to win a general election against Donald Trump will inexorably and gleefully erode his standing by rehashing the Anita Hill hearings, pushing him to the left on domestic policy and endlessly reminding voters of his support for the Gulf War…Running in a Democratic primary could deeply damage Biden’s legacy.

What legacy would that be? When he told people to fire their shotguns in the air or when he commanded a handicap man in a wheel chair to stand up?

Politico isn’t just about delusion and revisionist history, they also have utterly insane solutions to nonexistent problems:

Now here’s what Biden should do next: Pick a Republican running mate in a “trans-party” third-party run for the White House.

Biden would probably do better than his previous 3 failed White House bids if he ran as a transgender candidate, but that’s probably not what Politico meant. They are actually talking about Biden picking a “principled conservative” like Mitt Romney as his running mate as a sort of bi-partisan independent ticket.

Why does Biden get to run as president with Romney as the VP candidate? Romney has done a hell of lot better than Biden ever did in presidential runs. Sure, Romney lost to Obama in 2012, but at least he got his party’s nomination.

Politico points out that previous 3rd party presidential runs have been miserable failures because they were “lunatic fringe” candidates. Has Politico ever heard a Joe Biden speech? He’s the fringiest lunatic that has ever run for office.

The justification for an independent Biden/Romney ticket comes from the late John McCain’s regret that he didn’t choose democrat/independent Joe Lieberman as his running mate in 2008. Politico notes, “A McCain/Lieberman ticket might not have won the White House,” but thinks Biden and Romney would totally kill it in 2020.

The logic for the path to victory for Biden/Romney is stunning. Politico believes this independent ticket would be “disruptive” and ensure that no candidate would reach the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency. At that point the House of Representative would select the president and Politico thinks Nancy Pelosi and the democrat-controlled House would pick Biden and Romney over the Democratic Party candidate.

Finally, Politico tries to legitimize its fantasy of a Biden/Romney win by noting nobody thought Trump could win in 2016 so anything’s possible. Anything is possible, but most things aren’t probable and that includes two losers running on a loser party ticket winning anything. This is like finding all the statistically worse football players, putting them in a Detroit Lions uniform, and expecting them to win the Super Bowl. It ain’t going to happen.
