Psychologists Declare ‘Being A Man’ A Mental Disorder

Liberal science is certainly a thing to behold. Psychologists tell us that a biological female pretending to be a man is perfectly healthy, but now they’ve declared that biological males actually being men is a mental disorder. The American Psychological Association has announced that masculinity is a crippling emotional problem affecting all boys and men except the sissies who are in touch with their feminine side. The good news is we can all throw on a dress, start calling ourselves “Julia” and we’re cured.

Here’s the latest in liberal pseudo science from the APA:

APA’s new Guidelines for Psychological Practice With Boys and Men strive to recognize and address these problems in boys and men while remaining sensitive to the field’s androcentric past. Thirteen years in the making, they draw on more than 40 years of research showing that traditional masculinity is psychologically harmful and that socializing boys to suppress their emotions causes damage that echoes both inwardly and outwardly.

…something is amiss for men…

Men commit 90 percent of homicides in the United States and represent 77 percent of homicide victims. They’re the demographic group most at risk of being victimized by violent crime. They are 3.5 times more likely than women to die by suicide, and their life expectancy is 4.9 years shorter than women’s. Boys are far more likely to be diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder than girls, and they face harsher punishments in school—especially boys of color.

Oh snap! Did they just suggest that black males are especially mentally f*cked up? There will be outrage. We’ll get back to the racism thing in a second, but first, here’s the problem as the APA sees it:

The main thrust of the subsequent research is that traditional masculinity—marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression—is, on the whole, harmful. Men socialized in this way are less likely to engage in healthy behaviors…men with the strongest beliefs about masculinity were only half as likely as men with more moderate masculine beliefs to get preventive health care…that the more men conformed to masculine norms, the more likely they were to consider as normal risky health behaviors such as heavy drinking, using tobacco and avoiding vegetables, and to engage in these risky behaviors themselves…

So if you don’t eat your vegetables you are too masculine and therefore suffering from mental illness? Who came up with this? The same kook who says cold weather in the winter proves global warming is real?

Somehow this thing gets crazier with masculinity being responsible for racism and illegal immigration:

For example, the masculine requirement to remain stoic and provide for loved ones can interact with systemic racism…Other people’s perceptions of masculinity matter, too—and many of these perceptions are rooted in racial stereotyping…among white college students, Asian-American men are viewed as less manly than white or black American men…Men and boys of color may also be viewed with suspicion by schools, law enforcement and others, leading to harsher punishments compared with white men and boys…

Race, ethnicity and discrimination can also intersect with immigration status: As of fiscal year 2017, 68 percent of unaccompanied minors who crossed the border were male…

The big piece of “proof” that masculinity is a psychological disorder is this:

Though men report less depression than women, they complete suicide at far higher rates than women, and the numbers are moving in the wrong direction.

Men get shit done. What’s the problem?

Being a woman is complicated because women make it that way. Being a man is easy and it’s not even close to being a mental disorder. Masculinity has being around since the first day of human existence and somehow it got us to where we are today, hundreds of thousands of years later. Why is being a man suddenly a mental problem?

I drink, smoke, push the lima beans to side, and ride my bike without a helmet as my energetic dog pulls me at top speed chasing squirrels and skateboarders. I like to think I’m someone who enjoys life rather than being “cursed” with a mental disorder for being born a man. Besides, I can pee standing up and the world is my toilet, so I got that going for me as well.
