Semi-hot soccer mom Katy Perry has been accused of racism before, in the form of cultural appropriation, but this is ridiculous. Apparently the anti-Trump liberal pop star thought it would be a great idea to design shoes that look like Amos ‘n’ Andy. Yeah, this woke leftist entertainer is selling “blackface” shoes and she might have even been wearing them as she accused President Trump of racism. Normally you tell a hypocrite to look in the mirror, but Katy Perry needs only glance down at her feet.
TMZ reports:
Katy’s got a whole shoe line for sale at retailers like Dillard’s and Walmart — and a couple of her designs feature what looks similar to blackface … the “Rue Face Slip On Loafers” and its high-heeled counterpart, “Ora Face Block Heel Sandal.”
The “face” shoes have two eyes, a nose and red lips on them, and they come in two different colors … black and beige. The black one is problematic, because it looks a lot like classic blackface makeup…
The “face” heeled sandals are also problematic … and Katy’s catching major heat for having the shoes on store shelves.
Look at those things. They could have starred in Disney’s The Song of the South as “tar babies.” I’m a little curious why the non-black shoes aren’t racist too. The beige ones look just as much like a blackface and the gold ones are clearly mocking Asians with “yellow face,” something Perry has been accused of doing before.
Don’t worry Perry had no idea that her racist shoes were racist.
Sources connected to Katy tell us these specific shoes are just part of an entire line of shoes she’s designed and released … and they were never intended to be offensive. However, we’re told, “In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes.”
And pulled they were. TMZ updated this story to say that Perry’s blackface shoes have been removed from both Walmart and Dillard’s. Nobody is more upset than Virginia governor Ralph Northam who planning on buying a pair to moonwalk in for an upcoming Michael jackson dance contest.
Apparently these shoes have been around for a while and nobody noticed they were racist until most of the Virginia democratic leadership was busted for blackface. I wonder if Katy Perry also has some rape inspired shoes that need to be pulled off the shelf because of Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax.
The thing is, Katy Perry either designed these herself or at least approved of them before she put her name on them. She never thought for a second, that they look kinda like a racist caricature of black people. She’s great at spotting imaginary racism in others, but can’t see it when it’s from her and on her own damn feet.
Katy Perry is a liberal celebrity so this will blow over and she’ll be no worse fro wear. Imagine however if Ivanka Trump had put these shoes out. Then that would be a major catastrophe, proof that President Trump is a white supremacist, and the single most racist thing anyone has ever done. Once again liberal privilege comes through for those rotten racist people on the left.
Here’s what I actually find funniest about this: With these shoes getting pulled from the shelves, that means there are probably thousands of them sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Perry will either have to throw them away, which won’t be environmentally friendly or donate them. Obviously she can’t donate them anywhere in North America, so they’ll probably end up where lots of unwanted clothing goes: Africa. Within months, third-world Africans could be wearing these as they starve, commit genocide, and perpetrate acts of terror.
