Brianna Wu is an insane feminist who keeps running for Congress with no success. She once warned that Elon Musk was going to nuke us by throwing rocks from the moon to the Earth’s surface. Presumably she has taken care of that threat and is now sounding the alarm over civilian machine gun ownership. Despite the fact that civilians can’t general get their hands on full-auto weaponry, she is demanding that we ban machine guns.
Here’s a really funny tweet storm:
1/ I had an opportunity to fire a fully automatic M16 assault rifle today under professional instruction. This is the same weapon US Armed Forces use.
The experience made me feel even more strongly there is no reason for a civilian to have access to this weapon, or one like it.

We could probably stop here since her wish has already been granted, civilians do not have access to M-16s, but we’ll keep going because this gets way more hilarious.
2/ For starters, growing up in the South, I took an NRA safety class as a teenager. I spent many an afternoon as a kid in target practice.
But this assault rifle is a different beast. It would take A MINIMUM of 30-40 hours of professional instruction to learn to operate safely.

The M-16 was actually designed to be very easy to use, but whatever. If it takes you 40 hours of professional training to learn how to point and shoot, you shouldn’t under any circumstances have a gun.
3/ It shoots a 5.56 mm bullet. You can feel the wind of it firing three feet behind the shooter. The gun is very difficult to control.
I’ve seen these fired thousands of times in games and movies. In real life you understand the devastation even being grazed would cause.

Well there goes that liberal narrative that assault rifles are extra-deadly because anyone can pick one up and kill a million people. According to Wu they are very hard to handle, which you’d think she would be happy about.
If she wants to feel some serious “wind” she should come hang out with me when I’m firing my .357 magnum. It’s a six-shot revolver, but somehow way more terrifying than a glorified .22 caliber plinker. As for a grazing shot from a .556 being “devastating” I guess that depends on where you get grazed. If it’s the nuts, than yes, this would be devastating but anywhere else wouldn’t be too bad.
4/ These guns belong in the hands of soldiers who have been trained. They do not belong in the hands of civilians.
There is no reason someone would need this to defend their home.

Again, Wu gets her wish. Nobody can run down to the Bass Pro Shops and pick upon M-16. These weapons are not in the hands of civilians.
Obviously she doesn’t know the difference between the semi-automatic rifles average people can buy and the full-auto weapons issued to the military, but that’s hardly her only problem. She seems to be under the impression that the 2nd Amendment only guarantees the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense. She thinks that restrictions can be put on gun ownership based on what liberals perceive as a specific need for a firearm. There are no such clauses in the 2nd Amendment. It doesn’t say anything about hunting, self-defense, or liberal feelings.
After taking a ton of crap on Twitter for this ridiculously uninformed gun rant, Wu saved her stupidest tweet for last:
Whoops! I really upset the gun extremists with a reasonable statement saying civilians shouldn’t have machine guns.
Fortunately, @MomsDemand has 10 times the power of the NRA. We’re going to end these mass shootings.
Continue to melt down on Twitter if it makes you feel better.

Is it really a reasonable statement to call for something to be banned that is already banned? From my perspective it’s like getting all worked up and saying we should pass a law to outlaw murder. In order for something to be reasonable, it has to apply some level of reason, which this doesn’t.
Moms Demand Action has 10 times more power than the NRA? MDA doesn’t even have ten actual members. It’s Shannon Watts bitching about guns and Michael Bloomberg writing checks so she can seem relevant. The NRA has 5 million dues paying members and the 2nd Amendment on their side. Clearly the NRA has at least 5 million times the power of a faux grassroots scam like Moms Demand Action.
Finally, let’s not dismiss the fact that Brianna Wu just said that she and MDA are going to end mass shootings by banning machine guns. There’s so much dumb in that one brief sentence, but the most glaring problem is that not one single mass shooting in modern history was carried out by someone with a machine gun.
