California Rep. Eric Swalwell had one thing that separated him from the 3,000 or so other democrats running in 2020 and that was an insane gun control plan that would make all American gun owners felons. He however doesn’t even have that anymore because NJ Senator Cory Booker stole his plan to jail all previously law-abiding gun owners. Booker doesn’t seem like he intends to nuke American citizens so Swalwell still has that. Hey, I’m an optimist and I like to look on the bright side.
As Cory Booker reports, Booker unveiled one mutha of a gun control plan if he is elected president. Yeah, he’s having such a hard time getting any press he’s now reporting on himself:
To make justice a reality for all, we have to end the epidemic of gun violence and invest in communities that have been shattered by the trauma left in its wake. To do that, we need to adopt a plan that introduces aggressive gun safety measures — the most forward-leaning this country has ever seen.
In Booker’s warped mind, tearing up the Constitution and stripping Americans of their rights is the key to establishing “justice” for all. And how does Booker intend to make justice a reality? Well, he has what he calls a 14-point plan that is actually 15-points:
Keep guns out of the wrong hands with gun licensing
Bring real regulation and oversight to gun manufacturers
End legal immunity that prevents victims of gun violence from seeking justice
Require handgun microstamping
Close the “Boyfriend Loophole”
Ensure a background check on every gun sale by closing the loophole on guns show and online sales and the so-called “Charleston Loophole”
Ban assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and bump stocks
Provide dedicated funding for research on gun violence as a public health issue
Modernize and strengthen the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)
Support extreme risk prevention order laws
Limit gun buyers to one handgun per month
Require firearm owners to report lost or stolen firearms
Ramp up funding for community-based violence intervention programs
Increase trauma support for survivors and communities impacted by gun violence
Call on the IRS to conduct an investigation into the NRA’s tax status
You may have noticed that none of that crap is going to have any impact on “gun violence” because it only targets law-abiding gun owners and not the criminals who are responsible for gun-related crime. There are a couple of things in there however that would make every single gun owner in American into a felon. The first is the federal gun licensing requirement:
Here’s how it would work: Individuals could seek a gun license at a designated local office, widely available in urban and rural areas, similar to applying for or renewing a passport. They would submit fingerprints, provide basic background information, and demonstrate completion of a certified gun safety course.
The FBI would then verify submission of required materials and run a comprehensive background check before issuing a federal gun license, after which the license-holder could freely purchase and own firearms. The license would be valid for up to five years before renewal with regular, automatic checks to flag non-compliance with license terms.
And the second is the “assault weapons” ban:
Large capacity ammunition magazines and assault weapons have been present in many mass shootings in the US, made for no other purpose than to kill people quickly and efficiently.
I know that I’m not alone when I say that I will not seek permission from the federal government to own the guns I’ve lawfully owned for decades and I’m sure as shit not turning any of those guns in if they are suddenly banned. Brian Anderson and millions like him would become criminals over night under a Cory Booker presidency.
I’m a good patriotic American who has never done anything worse than exceed the posted speed limit on occasion. If Booker were president and implemented this shit, I would be forced to choose between surrendering my rights or jail and I’m never giving up my liberty. Under Booker’s tyranny my government would view me as a criminal and an enemy of the state.
The worst part about this is how Booker plans on juking around the Constitution to get all this gun control enacted:
Finally, beginning on Day One in office, Cory will take executive action to build on ongoing efforts and take concrete steps forward — closing dangerous loopholes in gun sales, cracking down on unscrupulous dealers and gun manufacturers, and investing in communities impacted by gun violence.
I guess Booker feels like if he’s going to f*ck the Constitution, f*ck it hard.
