I guess in a liberal kind of way this makes sense. According to the pro-abortion crowd, the baby growing in a woman’s uterus is just a clump of cells that doesn’t become human until it passes through the birth canal and is magically transformed. Liberal superstar Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has added to the leftist mythology by stating that women with “clumps of cells” growing in their bellies are not mothers.
The Supreme Court reviewed an Indiana law that requires the burial or cremation of aborted babies. The high court ruled in favor of the law 9-2, with only liberal Justices RBG and Sonja Sotomayor ruling against it.
Conservative Justice Clarence Thomas took issue with RBG, calling her out for not even looking at the facts of the case.
“JUSTICE GINSBURG does not even attempt to argue that the decision below was correct. Instead, she adopts Chief Judge Wood’s alternative suggestion that regulating the disposition of an aborted child’s body might impose an ‘undue burden’ on the mother’s right to abort that (already aborted) child,” wrote Thomas.
Thomas also noted that even Planned Parenthood isn’t so extreme as to think that proper burial requirements for aborted babies restricts women from getting abortions.
“This argument is difficult to understand, to say the least, which may explain why even respondent Planned Parenthood did not make it,” added Thomas.
RGB shot back with this gem:
“JUSTICE THOMAS’ footnote … displays more heat than light. The note overlooks many things,” wrote Ginsberg. “A woman who exercises her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy is not a ‘mother.’”
What the hell? Nobody is arguing that women who kill their babies are “good mothers”, but they are mothers. When a crazy woman drowns her babies in the bathtub, the news still refers to her as the “mother.” Murdering children doesn’t remove that title, though there is probably a process to revoke the “World’s greatest mom” coffee mug.
So if RGB doesn’t think a pregnant woman is mother, what does she think she is? My money is on “Clump Container.” If, according to liberal science, an unborn baby is a clump of cells it stands to reason that whoever that clump is inside is mere a vessel for those cells. It’s seems a little misogynist to diminish woman to the status of a piece of Tupperware for clumps, but liberals can always get away with saying terrible things.
And while were on the subject of crazy shit RGB said, did you notice that line about abortion being a Constitutionally protected right? This is simply not true and it’s a little strange that a Supreme Court Justice doesn’t understand this. There is no amendment in the constitution protecting abortion as a right.
The SCOTUS ruled in the Roe v. Wade case that abortion is legal because women have a 14th Amendment right to privacy. That same amendment guarantees that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law, but whatever, Roe v. Wade was not the greatest decision the SCOTUS ever made.
It’s a good thing that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of this Indiana law or it would now be Constitutional precedent that pregnant women aren’t mothers. They couldn’t legally get a Mother’s Day card or a seat on the bus, but thankfully RBG’s opinion was on the losing side.
Also, am I the only who’s shocked that RBG is still alive? I thought they were doing a Weekend At Bernie’s thing with her corpse.
