Iowa Rep. Steve King is the GOP’s version of Joe Biden: he says lots of insane things, many of which are racist and offensive. The only difference is, Republicans are mortified by what comes out of King’s mouth while democrats laugh off Biden’s terribleness as another Crazy Joe gaffe. To keep pace with Biden’s recent string of insanity, King came out as a champion for rape and incest. No seriously, he did.
King did an interview with the Des Moines Register and for some crazy reason, said this:
“What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?” King asked.
So far he’s trying to say that without rape and incest there would be no people on the planet, which is pretty bonkers, but he had some more nuts to throw on the pile:
“Considering all the wars and all the rapes and pillages taken place and whatever happened to culture after society? I know I can’t certify that I’m not a part of a product of that,” said King.
Not only does he support rape and incest, he himself is a proud inbred rape baby. I wonder if this sounded good in his head and somehow things just didn’t turn out right when it made it to his mouth.
Thankfully the Register was able to give a little clarity to this bizarre statement:
The Kiron Republican was defending his position of not allowing exceptions for rape and incest in the anti-abortion legislation he tried to pass in Congress.
Just because a conception happened in bad circumstances doesn’t mean the result isn’t a person, King, who is Catholic, argued.
“It’s not the baby’s fault for the sin of the father, or of the mother,” King said.
Okay, maybe next time lead with that. The message he was trying to convey was completely lost by his vigorous defense of rape and incest.
It is possible to make this point without jumping up on the table and yelling, “Incest is best! Put your sister to the test!”
Earlier this year King did another interview in which he wanted to know why white supremacy was so offensive.
“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive? Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?” King asked.
Now here’s the real story in all of this: When King was asking why white supremacy was offensive, the Republican leadership stripped him of all his committee assignments and many called for his resignation. When democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar issued a series of anti-Semitic statements, the democrats not only didn’t strip her of committee positions or call for her resignation, they passed a resolution condemning white supremacy but not her hateful remarks.
This is no different. With King’s “rape and incest” fanyboyism, Republicans are once again calling for him to resign:
Today’s comments by @RepSteveKingIA are appalling and bizarre. As I’ve said before, it’s time for him to go. The people of Iowa’s 4th congressional district deserve better.

Since announcing his presidential candidacy a few months ago Joe Biden has said a dozen racist things, done numerous sexist and creepy things, and flat-out lied a dozen times more. Not one democrat has condemned him or called for him to drop out of the race.
Democrats are going to use this Save King quote to attack the GOP but the truth is Republicans are condemning him. What this episode really shows is how hypocritical and awful democrats are for standing behind anyone with a “D” after their name, no matter what they do or say.
