In the gun control debate democrats think that whoever can make up the biggest lies will win and they’re betting they are more full of crap than anyone. In all fairness, that’s how they think they’ll win every debate. An MSNBC contributor and former democratic Congresswoman claims that mass shooters kill thousands of people every year with “automatic weapons” and “high-capacity ammo.” Because she spewed these lies on MSNBC they went completely unchallenged. If the liberal cable news network fact-checked rather than pushing a leftist agenda, they wouldn’t be fake news and that’s something they are proud of.
Mitch McConnell is floating the idea of expediting the death penalty for mass shooters and if there’s one thing liberals hate more than legal gun ownership it’s punishing people appropriately for the atrocities they commit. Former Maryland U.S. Rep. and current MSNBC sock puppet Donna Edwards took issue with both:
“It’s ridiculous putting the death penalty on the table. I mean, people who are committing mass shootings aren’t saying, ‘Well, I might get the death penalty and so I won’t do it.’ No, they’re getting these automatic rifles, they’re using high capacity ammunition, and they’re killing, they’re mowing down hundreds, thousands of people every single year,” said Edwards.

There isn’t one thing that is true or coherent about what she said. Do you know how many people have been killed by a mass shooter with an automatic weapon this year? None. This decade? Zero. In Donna Edward’s lifetime? Zilch. Ever? Not a single one.
Do you know how many people were killed by a mass shooter using high-capacity ammo this year? That’s actually a trick question because high-capacity ammo isn’t a real thing and stuff that doesn’t exist can’t hurt anyone. That’s like asking how many people were killed by squatty bumpkins this year. Also, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if a democrats calls for a ban on squatty bumpkins.
Edwards claim that thousands, meaning at least 2,000, people are killed by mass shooters with automatic weapons using high-capacity ammo runs into some other factual issues. In 2017, the last year with available crime statistics, only 667 people were killed by someone with a long gun of any type, including shotguns. Almost none of those fatalities were attributed to a mass shooter, and none of them involved an automatic weapon. Where is Edwards finding these other 1,333 deaths?
According to the FBI crime data in 2017, 1,591 people were stabbed to death, 696 people were punched or kicked to death, and 467 people were bludgeoned to death with blunt objects. All of these numbers exceed the 403 people who were shot to death with a rifle. Why no calls to ban knives, fists, and hammers? Those are obviously bigger problems than rifles in this country.
Aside from the gun-illiterate factually-challenged claim, Edwards is actually making a really shitty statement here. She’s saying that law-abiding Americans should be robbed of their 2nd Amendment gun ownership rights, but that the lives of criminals who commit unspeakable acts should be spared. Why do democrats always side with the scumbags over law-abiding productive Americans.
Maybe a better question is: why would any law-abiding productive American ever vote for a democrat? I know I pose this question a lot, but I simply cannot wrap my head around the idea that anyone useful would ever vote for democrat.
