It’s unclear what his actual point was because Joe Biden is drooling-on-his-bib crazy, but the message he delivered was that even if you have an AR-15, the government will kill you and take your guns. Actually, that’s probably what he was trying to say as he was talking about banning semi-automatic weapons. Until now, Biden has been running on his “electability” without offering any policy specifics, but now he has at least one policy which is to strip Americans of their Constitutional rights and killing all dissenters. He should definitely go back to pretending people like him.
KDNW reports that Biden held a fundraiser in Las Vegas and was betting that the payouts would be bigger if he attacked the 2nd Amendment. In a call to ban semi-automatic weapons, he dropped this:
“If you need weapons to protect yourself from the government, you’d better go get an F-15. You’d better buy yourself a fighter jet or a bazooka rocket launcher,” said Biden.
I don’t know what a “bazooka rocket launcher” is, but suddenly I want one.
“The idea that an AR-15 is going to protect you from your government — come on!” Biden exclaimed.
For a guy who is so inarticulate and just plain crazy, he actually managed to say volumes with these two lines. The first thing that sticks out is that he’s threatening law-abiding gun owners by saying they must surrender their puny weapons or the government is going to kill them. He’s also implying that if he is elected president that he will ban AR-15s and use the full force of the United States Military to confiscate the tens of millions of guns in private hands.
The next message he’s sending is that our 2nd Amendment rights are nullified because we can’t match the firepower of the U.S. government. No really, his argument is that AR-15s are unless against what the military is packing so we might as well give them up.
He also made a couple of unintentional points that counter his argument. He’s saying that AR-15s aren’t terribly lethal or effective weapons, which runs contrary to the liberal talking point that they are “weapons of mass destruction.” If AR-15s are so ineffective, why does he want to ban them?
The other accidental point Biden makes is that the American people are woefully under-equipped to handle an oppressive central government. The actual purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to guarantee that the people have the means to resist a tyrannical government, and as Joe Biden points out, we don’t have nearly the weaponry to do that. He’s right, we should have fighter jets and bazooka rocket launchers.
Ultimately, this is the worst take on the 2nd Amendment yet. Liberals usually try to claim that since nobody needs an AR-15 to hunt, they should be banned. Crazy Joe’s version of this bogus argument is that since AR-15s can’t defeat the U.S. Military, they should be banned.
Just to be clear, the 2nd Amendment doesn’t tie gun ownership rights to hunting or arbitrary needs. It sure as hell doesn’t link the right to keep and bear arms to those arms being capable of waging a successful war against the United States Government.
I think the actual point he was making in Las Vegas was: if you value freedom, do not vote for Joe Biden or any democrat.
