The democratic party debate next week was supposed to be held at UCLA, but there’s some kind of a labor dispute so the candidates bitched and cried until it was moved to a new venue. That new location, Loyola Marymount University, is also involved in a labor dispute so most of the candidates are threatening a boycott. Oh no, there might be no debate next week. What will the 5 people who would have watched this snoozefest do with their free time now?
Fox Business reports:
Top Democratic presidential candidates threatened to boycott the upcoming debate at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles over a labor dispute.
Unite Here Local 11 represents 150 cooks, dishwashers, cashiers and servers employed by Sodexo, which is subcontracted by the university to prepare and serve meals for students and university employees.
Susan Minato, co-president of Unite Here Local 11, said the union has been in negotiations with Sodexo over a contract since March, but that talks broke down on Friday. Picketing began in November.
The Democratic National Committee already moved the sixth debate to Loyola Marymount because of another union dispute at the original venue, the University of California, Los Angeles.
Unleash the liberal outrage!
I won’t be crossing a picket line. We’ve got to stand together with @UniteHere11 for affordable health care and fair wages. A job is about more than just a paycheck. It’s about dignity. https://t.co/nn4tb5q8wt

.@UniteHere11 is fighting for better wages and benefits—and I stand with them. The DNC should find a solution that lives up to our party’s commitment to fight for working people. I will not cross the union’s picket line even if it means missing the debate.

I stand with the workers of @UniteHere11 on campus at Loyola Marymount University fighting Sodexo for a better contract. I will not be crossing their picket line.

As I said at my event with labor leaders here in Miami, I will not cross the picket line and I will stand with @UniteHere11 to fight for the dignity of work.

I take the debate stage to stand up for workers’ rights, not to undermine them.
I stand in solidarity with the workers of @UNITEHERE11 at Loyola Marymount University and I will not cross their picket line.

I won’t cross the @UniteHere11 picket line to attend next week’s debate. We must live our values and there is nothing more core to the Democratic Party than the fight for working people. I support @UniteHere11 in their fight for the compensation and benefits they deserve.

I support @UNITEHERE11. If their dispute with @sodexoUSA is not resolved before the debate, I will not cross the picket line. I trust the DNC will find a solution ahead of the debate, and I stand with @LoyolaMarymount workers in their fight for fair wages and benefits.

If all of the democrats boycott the debate, that means Cory Booker has a chance to steal this thing. The NJ Senator didn’t make the debate stage, but in another Spartacus moment, he could show up and walk away with a decisive victory.
I would say the same thing for Julian Castro, but he’s boycotting a debate he’s not even invited to.
No candidate for the Democratic nomination should cross a picket line.
I stand with @UNITEHERE11 and urge @LoyolaMarymount to live up to its Jesuit values by respecting the needs and desires of the @sodexoUSA workers that feed their great university.

What’s the DNC going to do now? Move the debate again? Just to be funny, they should hold it at the Chik-fil-A in Hollywood. Oh yeah, I forgot, liberals don’t have a sense of humor.
Here’s how truly stupid this thing is: the labor dispute is not with Loyola, but rather a subcontractor that serves food. Also, the debate probably isn’t being held in the cafeteria, so no democrat would have to cross a picket line.
It’s absolutely hilarious that the DNC is finding out how much of a pain in the ass it is to make liberals happy. Guess what? It’s impossible to satisfy these people. They will always find something to complain about and no matter how much you give, they demand more.
