With all of the insane things he says, people often forget that Joe Biden isn’t just crazy but also completely full of crap. In an effort to pander the black vote, which is slipping away from his failing campaign, Biden has been bragging how he was arrested in South Africa trying to meet with Nelson Mandela. He should probably know this is easily fact-check but was probably counting on the liberal media’s nap when it comes to his BS. Much to Biden’s chagrin, the New York Times looked into it and concluded he made the whole thing up.
Here’s a rare case of the liberal media doing its job. The NYT reports:
In at least three campaign appearances over the past two weeks, Joseph R. Biden Jr. has told a similar story as he tries to revive his campaign in states with more diverse voters. On a trip to South Africa years ago, he has said, he was arrested as he sought to visit Nelson Mandela in prison.
“This day, 30 years ago, Nelson Mandela walked out of prison and entered into discussions about apartheid,” Mr. Biden said at a campaign event in South Carolina last week. “I had the great honor of meeting him. I had the great honor of being arrested with our U.N. ambassador on the streets of Soweto trying to get to see him on Robbens Island.”
Mr. Biden referred to his own arrest twice more in the next seven days, including at a campaign stop here on Tuesday…

But if Mr. Biden, then a United States senator from Delaware, was in fact arrested while trying to visit Mr. Mandela, he did not mention it in his 2007 memoir when writing about a 1970s trip to South Africa, and he has not spoken of it prominently on the 2020 campaign trail. A check of available news accounts by The New York Times turned up no references to an arrest.
Andrew Young, a former congressman and mayor of Atlanta who was the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 1977 to 1979, said that he had traveled with Mr. Biden over the years, including to South Africa. But Mr. Young said that he had never been arrested in South Africa and expressed skepticism that members of Congress would have faced arrest there.
“No, I was never arrested and I don’t think he was, either,” said Young. “I don’t think there was ever a situation where congressmen were arrested in South Africa.”
Ok, so Biden never mentioned this before a couple of weeks ago, didn’t write about it in his book, there is no record of the arrest, and the guy who was with him says it never happened. It doesn’t get any more conclusive than that: Joe Biden’s pants are full of shit and on fire. He’s lying.
What’s going on here is that Biden is in pure panic mode. He was banking on support from black people to rescue his tanking presidential bid. Unfortunately for him, his support in the black community has also been dropping so he’s trying to do something to get it back or his campaign is over. In his insane brilliance, he came up with a story that he went to jail for Nelson Mandela, hoping that black voters would see him as a brave honky who has suffered for the cause.
The bad news just keeps coming for Biden because a new NBC/WSJ poll shows that Bernie Sanders has puled even with Biden in support from black voters. This means that Joe will have to escalate his pander/lie offensive. Tomorrow he’s going to claim that he threw his body in front of Martin Luther King Jr. to protect him but the bullet passed through his body.
He should go for some more believable lies to pander the black vote. Nobody would question if he claimed to be the real guy who emancipated the slaves because he’s old enough to have done that. Or, even better, he should say he used to sniff little kids and let them rub his hairy legs at Neverland Ranch with Michael Jackson because he’s creepy enough to have done that.
