The liberal media isn’t very good at reporting factual news, but they are awesome at creating panic and hysteria. After weeks of fake news coronavirus fear mongering all sports are now officially cancelled. No basketball, no hockey, no baseball, no soccer, nothing. What kind of disease do we need to get CNN and MSNBC cancelled?
Are you a basketball fan? Tough shit:
After taking the initial step to play games in empty arenas, the NBA issued a statement on Wednesday night declaring that the 2019-20 season will be suspended “until further notice.” The decision is a result of a Utah Jazz player, reportedly Rudy Gobert, tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of Utah’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which abruptly got called off.
Maybe you prefer college hoops. If so, suck it:
March Madness 2020 canceled due to coronavirus outbreak
March Madness 2020 has been hit with the ultimate upset.
The NCAA tournament for men’s and women’s basketball has been canceled, the NCAA announced Thursday, as concerns over the spread of coronavirus continued to rise across the country.
All other winter and spring NCAA championships have also been canceled.
Oh well, at least there’s still hockey. Or not:
NHL Suspends Season Amid Coronavirus Concerns
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced an indefinite postponement of the 2019-20 season Thursday amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, and after consulting with medical experts and convening a conference call of the Board of Governors, the National Hockey League is announcing today that it will pause the 2019‑20 season beginning with tonight’s games.
“The NHL has been attempting to follow the mandates of health experts and local authorities, while preparing for any possible developments without taking premature or unnecessary measures. However, following last night’s news that an NBA player has tested positive for coronavirus – and given that our leagues share so many facilities and locker rooms and it now seems likely that some member of the NHL community would test positive at some point—it is no longer appropriate to try to continue to play games at this time.
At least baseball season is almost here. Oops, that’s gone too:
MLB suspends spring training, delays Opening Day at least two weeks
Major League Baseball is delaying the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the league announced Thursday.
MLB also said in a statement that spring training games have been suspended, starting at 4 p.m. ET Thursday.
Commissioner Rob Manfred and the league’s owners held a conference call Thursday afternoon to formalize the plan.
“MLB will announce the effects on the schedule at an appropriate time and will remain flexible as events warrant, with the hope of resuming normal operations as soon as possible,” MLB said in its statement.
Shortly after MLB announced its decision to delay the start of its regular season, Minor League Baseball followed suit. In a statement, MILB announced that: “After consultation with medical professionals and our partners at Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball will delay the start of the 2020 Championship Season.
There is one bright spot in all of this:
Coronavirus: MLS suspends season due to COVID-19 concerns; U.S. Soccer cancels friendlies
Major League Soccer is the latest professional North American sports league to suspend its season over coronavirus concerns. The league has put the season on hold for 30 days, effective immediately, MLS announced in a press release on Thursday.
The league plans to discuss future plans “at the appropriate time,” adding, “the league and clubs will communicate plans for the continuation of the 2020 season and update the status of league events.”
MLS thought about playing games with no fans in the stands, but that’s how they normally do things.
Just to put all of this hysteria in perspective:
39 people have died of the coronavirus in the U.S.
2,000 Americans died from the West Nile Virus.
4,000 Americans died of the swine flu in 2009.
7,000 Americans die from the ordinary flu virus every year.
Everything never got canceled before due to these outbreaks, but then again Donald Trump wasn’t President then. Liberals have a vested interest in creating panic and tanking the economy.
