As Trump’s Poll Numbers Rise, Media Begin Censoring Press Conferences

Via The Federalist

Media continue to make their coverage choices based on whether they believe it will harm or help Trump.

The political media have been working extremely hard to craft a narrative that the spread of the coronavirus was essentially the fault of the man they had blamed for all other ills in recent years. How could the people not accept that narrative, particularly considering that most everyone in the media was pushing it?

Things got worse when additional polls showed Trump receiving high ratings at the same time that the media received poor ratings. A brand new Gallup study — “Coronavirus Response: Hospitals Rated Best, News Media Worst” — was particularly bad news. When Americans were asked about nine different institutions and political leaders, they gave majority approval to all but the media. President Trump has a 22-point net approval rating while the media’s net approval rating was negative 11 points. The RealClearPolitics approval average for Trump was its highest during his entire presidency.

In response, the media were angry and depressed and began blaming his press conferences. Their theory seemed to be that the more Americans saw Trump, unfiltered, they liked him and the more Americans saw the behavior of the media, they didn’t like it. This flies in the face of what many in the media assumed for years. They pushed for daily White House press conferences so that they could have the opportunity to be on camera and pressure the Trump administration. Now that they had daily press briefings with the president, no less, they weren’t happy. It was a weird response for a group of people whose ostensible job is to simply report the news of the day.

Cuomo Deserves No Plaudits for His Handling of Crisis

Via American Greatness

The facts prove that Cuomo put his state, and yes, the country as a whole, in danger with his last-minute disaster planning and fealty to open borders. That should spark outrage, not admiration.

Cuomo, his new admirers insist, is the antidote to President Trump—a leader who rose to the challenge, spoke the truth, and made the tough choices while the White House ducked and dithered.

“If social media is a reflection of how people are feeling, Cuomo’s image during the coronavirus outbreak is one of authority, yet hope—a role people value enough to begin visualizing his presidency,” one smitten CBS News reporter cooed.

But neither Cuomo nor New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio deserve attaboys. A toxic combination of Big Apple hubris, devotion to open borders regardless of the imminent threat, and Trump-hating obstinacy fueled a stubborn strategy that left their citizens vulnerable for months.

Further, New York’s political leaders have acknowledged that the world’s financial capital—a city home to nearly 9 million people, the most densely populated city in the country—has no comprehensive plan to deal with a pandemic or any viral public health threat. Cuomo and DeBlasio have cobbled together a last-minute, slapdash strategy as COVID-19 spread across the globe and closed in on New York City.

By January 31, the day President Trump suspended flights from China, “outbreaks were already growing in over 30 cities across 26 countries, most seeded by travelers from Wuhan,” according to one model by the New York Times.

But even by late February, Cuomo boasted about his state’s accessibility to foreign travelers—his state, the governor said on February 26, is the “front door” for visitors from around the world—while only instituting voluntary quarantines for suspected coronavirus carriers.

“Our operating paradigm has always been, prepare for the worst but hope for the best,” Cuomo said.

That paradigm, apparently, did not include prohibiting hundreds of thousands of potentially infected travelers from entering his state since January. Tourists and business travelers continued to pour into the Big Apple during the first several days of March without any comprehensive screening or restrictions.

Cuomo this week again bragged about his state’s open arms, which resulted in New York’s current crisis. The reason New York now has so many more cases of coronavirus, even more than California, is “because we welcome people from across the globe,” he said on March 25. “We have people coming here, we have people who came here from China, who came here from Italy, who came here from all across the globe.”

No one, of course, should be surprised that a leading Democratic politician prioritized open borders diversity politics over public health.

New York Times Goes Into Full Chinese Propaganda Mode As U.S. Coronavirus Cases Exceed 80,000

Via PJ Media

According to an analysis from The New York Times, 81,321 Americans have been infected with the coronavirus. This, they say, “is more cases than China, Italy or any other country has seen.” Now, I don’t think anyone really believes that China’s confirmed coronavirus cases simply topped out in the 80,000 range, but the World Health Organization and other groups seem to be accepting their numbers as gospel, anyway.

Just days earlier, the New York Times acknowledged that propaganda from the Chinese government has been “reshaping the coronavirus narrative” (by censoring negative information, hyping up China as the leader in the fight against the virus, and questioning the true origins of the virus) yet this latest article seems to be doing the work of China’s propaganda machine, by claiming that despite a “deeply flawed early response to the outbreak” China’s “autocratic government acted with ferocious intensity after the belated start.” While China was allegedly acting “with ferocious intensity,” the United States, they said, “remained preoccupied with business as usual. Impeachment. Harvey Weinstein. Brexit and the Oscars.”

The Democrats may have been distracted by impeachment, and maybe Americans were talking more about Weinstein, Brexit, and the Oscars, but, immediately after the World Health Organization was informed, the United States took action, restricting travel with China and implementing screening at airports. By January 20, a vaccine was already in development. By the end of January, a Coronavirus Task Force was established and Trump banned travel with China — a move that experts agree saved lives.

Despite these facts, The New York Times, acting as a propagandist for the Chinese governments, hypes China’s response to the virus as a well-oiled machine, even though the virus was spreading around the world for at least three weeks before China made any efforts to contain it, before accusing the United States of being blindsided and unready.

“Unwoke” Question: What Percent of Covid-19 Patients/Deaths Are Accounted for by Homeless?

Via The New American

While some experts say the lockdowns and lost income in combating the Wuhan flu are unnecessary, there’s a question that would provide relevant insight but is too politically incorrect to ask:

What percentage of Wuhan virus hospitalizations and deaths are accounted for by the homeless?

In many large American cities, in California in particular, vagrancy has been turned into a lifestyle (deathstyle?), with Third World-like homeless encampments blighting some metropolises. It’s no secret that these pockets of misery breed illness, either; in fact, medieval-type and other diseases — such as typhus, typhoid fever, hepatitis A, tuberculosis, and staph — have re-emerged in various West Coast cities (e.g., Los Angeles) for this very reason.

This isn’t surprising given that vagrants endure poor sanitation and hygiene, generally have wanting nutrition, and are often mentally ill and/or addicted to drugs or alcohol. In other words, they’re a population highly vulnerable to disease, having weakened immune systems and great exposure to pathogens.

Woman coughs on $35K of goods at Pennsylvania grocery store in ‘very twisted prank’

Via The New York Post

A Pennsylvania woman ruined an estimated $35,000 worth of goods by intentionally coughing all over them while the coronavirus plagues nations worldwide, a grocery store alleged on Facebook.

The woman visited a Hanover Township location of the small grocery chain Gerrity’s Supermarket before 2:20 p.m. Wednesday and coughed on fresh produce, a small section of the bakery, meat case and grocery items, the store’s co-owner Joe Fasula wrote.

Authorities do not believe the woman, whose name is still unknown, is infected with COVID-19, but will “make every effort” to get her tested, Fasula wrote. The woman is also said to be a “chronic problem” in the community.

“While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank, we will not take any chances with the health and well-being of our customers. We had no choice but to throw out all product she came in contact with,” Fasula wrote.

Gerrity’s Supermarket called cops immediately, and more than 15 employees worked with the Hanover Township health inspector to thoroughly clean and disinfect the store.

“The case has been escalated to the District Attorney’s Office. They have assured me that they will be aggressively pursuing numerous charges,” Fasula said.

The Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office and Hanover Township police could not be reached by The Post.

Quarantined Journalist Really Starting To Annoy Family By Calling Them Racists All Day

Via The Babylon Bee (Satire)

WASHINGTON, DC—Things have been a little tense lately in the home of journalist Todd Norbert. Normally, Norbert, a reporter for the New York Times, would be attending White House briefings or other major press conferences, looking for any excuse to accuse public figures of racism. Unfortunately, ever since being quarantined due to COVID-19 concerns, the news writer has been unable to leave his home to vilify politicians for using terms like “Chinese coronavirus”.

Undaunted, he has been forced to innovate and adapt, scouring his own household for signs of hate and prejudice.

When his seven-year-old daughter asked if he wanted to play a game of Chinese checkers, he heroically slapped the game board out of her hands and scolded her: “Mentioning the point of origin is racist! Just call it ‘weird checkers’ or ‘the version of checkers that is nothing like regular checkers’!”

Later that same evening, his wife announced, “Look, honey! I had Mexican food delivered!”

“Wow, Kathleen,” Norbert said, standing up and waving a finger in her face, “just… wow. Don’t call it ‘Mexican’ food! Mentioning Mexico is irrelevant and damaging to marginalized Latinx culture! Call it by its scientific name: ‘Tacos’!”

Norbert didn’t end up getting any tacos that night, and at publishing time was sleeping on an Ottoman, which he calls a “small foot couch.”
