Liberal logic states that the availability of guns and legal gun ownership rights in America are responsible for all gun deaths and especially mass shootings. The narrative on the left is guns are the culprit. The coronavirus shows however that once again liberals are full of crap. In March, over 2 million guns were sold in America as people looked for protection during the coronavirus panic. Also in March, liberals are claiming there wasn’t one single school shooting in the United States. Clearly guns are not the problem.
CBS reports that last month was the first school shooting-fee March in almost a generation:
March 2020 was apparently the first March in nearly two decades without a school shooting in the U.S. Schools across America have been shut down since early March as a prevention measure to slow the spread of coronavirus. Since then, kids of all ages have adjusted to homeschooling and online classes — a new normal that could extend through the rest of the school year.
For most of those students, this is one of the longest stretches in their lifetimes without a school shooting. As first reported on Twitter by Washington Post reporter Robert Klemko, there hasn’t been a March without a school shooting since 2002 — the year most current high school seniors were born.
It’s a good thing CBS qualified this with the word “apparently” because the entire premise of their reporting is bullshit. According to their own source, these are some of the other March school shootings:
3/23/2003 – A 15-year-old ninth-grader at Lauderdale County School shot himself in the temple just before the start of classes.
3/17/2004 – The eighth-grade boy arrived on campus at about 10:00 am, walked into a portable classroom and shot himself to death.
3/2/2005 – Stewart County school bus driver was killed as she stopped to pick up a student. Jason Clinard has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of the bus driver.
There were no recorded school shootings in March of 2006 or March of 2007 or March of 2008.
3/9/2009 – Authorities say the 16-year old student was fatally shot at a bus stop while on his way to school.
There were no recorded school shootings in March of 2010 and that’s where the statistics stop. Suicides and bus drivers don’t count as school shootings, but then again they do according to the liberal’s who compile these things.
And that brings us to the next point of bullshit in this article:
According to Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization that tracks gun violence in the U.S., there were a total of seven shootings that took place on school campuses in March 2020. Four of those shootings were classified as unintentional discharges, one took place between adults on a high school football field over the weekend and two occurred on college campuses but involved no students.
Everytown counts those as school shootings so the actual story here is: Last month was the first March in 18 years without a school shooting except most other years plus there were things that liberals consider school shootings in March 2020.
The point I’m trying to make is not necessarily this garbage reporting but rather the garbage liberal narrative behind it. The fact that CBS gleefully published this story that they know is false helps make that point.
Liberals are always screaming that mass shootings and school shooting don’t happen in any other country, another falsity. They say that because Americans have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms and the sheer number of firearms in the hands of law-abiding people is the reason why shootings of any kind occur in this country.
Well, there was no stupid liberal gun control law that kicked in at the beginning of March and there’s still the same number of guns in Americans’ hands. If there were no school shootings in March, for the first time in 18 years, it’s certainly not because people have less guns.
In fact, 2 million more guns made their way into private hands in March so that “more guns equals more death” narrative is busted as well.
CBS doesn’t know it, but by publishing this piece they’ve accidentally stumbled upon a universal truth: guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
