Let’s get our minds off the elections for a minute.
Your fist response might be, “That’s not a real gun!” Well, you may be right. But it’s a helluva lot of kick-ass fun!
I once reviewed the also not “real” gun, the Bug-A-Salt, which is for all intents and purposes an air powered salt shotgun made to exterminate flies. At least a couple of you found the review helpful and so I move on to my next “not really a gun” review.
I was first introduced to the Umerx line of full auto BB guns about a year ago by a retired infantry Sergeant who I used to work with. He should me a video of the MP-40 replica. His eyes lit up like the time he was telling me about a vicious firefight he got into in Iraq. This guy was EXCITED! He opted for the full-auto Umarex replica of the M9 Beretta. But after he got it he couldn’t wait to tell me how he sprayed a racoon with it.
I was excited too. But there was something that didn’t appeal to me about a full-auto M9. So I looked into the MP-40.
Mid-life crisis, you ask? Nah. Being 53 I’m well past that waypoint. I just wanted something full auto and I have neither the means nor the clean criminal background to secure something real. Nor can I afford to go rent a weapon at a full-auto shooting range. So there it is. I spent a mere $234 for an MP-40, 12 CO2 cartridges and 1500 rounds of steel bbs.
Here’s what I got, minus the spare mag.

So here’s this skinny guy trying to shoot the best he can with it. His mag dump shot pattern is awful, I did about a half-dollar sized grouping at the same distance, but here he is. He’s got a chronograph and all that other stuff I don’t.
But who are you gonna trust? This unknown or your brother . . . me?
He says, “Very realistic.” And yes, it is. But if you want to get REALLY picky, that connecter for the sling should be on the right side, not the left.
He’s informed you of all the technical aspects the gun. Now allow me to inform you how this thing works in real life.
I initially was interested because as most of you know, I’ve had about four years experience of sniping rats in my backyard with scoped Benjamin break-barrel pellet guns. They worked fine (99 kills) until the rats got wise. They stopped coming out in the open. I walked up on a few while investigating their activity. They quickly scrambled back into their holes. I though to myself, “If only I had an SMG . . . ”
Well, now I do!
I set up a test for it to show you all. Using a Hillary Clinton bobblehead as the target. This statue is made of a very solid substance (in China of course). Yes, she’s tremendously underweight but she’ll have to do.
So I set her up against this wall. And commenced firing.
I did a full mag dump on her and it produced these results:
You can see she lost an arm among other wounds.
But I was not satisfied. So I put her up against the wall again and fired 3-4 shot bursts.
These took her head mostly off her neck.
But it wasn’t totally removed, so back to the wall. Another 4 round burst and she was decapitated. 🙂
So . . . I love this BB gun! Negatives? It’s difficult to load a mag, but that’s about it. And despite what the skinny guy says, I usually get 2.5 mags out of the CO2 load.
An important aside. Only load this thing with steel BBs or it WILL jam.
ALSO: WEAR SHOOTING GLASSES! These BBs ricochet like crazy and you might put you eye(s) out if you don’t wear them.
I actually got hit in the knee while doing this by a BB that ricocheted off Killarys hard-headed dome. Fucking bitch!
All in all, if you’re looking for some serious fun, I totally recommend this!
