There are a lot of Constitutional issues regarding the coronavirus lockdown and the fascist enforcement of it. Many local governments require people to wear masks when they go out in public despite no Constitutional authority to mandate such a thing. In San Diego County a man did as he was told and covered his face to go grocery shopping and now he’s being investigated for a hate crime. Sure, he covered his face with a KKK hood, but nothing in the county’s orders specified this was forbidden.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports:
A man wore a Ku Klux Klan hood while grocery shopping in a Vons in Santee over the weekend, igniting outrage from elected leaders, the head of the Anti-Defamation League in San Diego and others.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department on Monday said detectives were “looking into the matter and will pursue any appropriate criminal charges.” Spokesman Lt. Ricardo Lopez said the matter was being investigated as a hate incident, which could rise to the level of a hate crime “if supported by facts.”
Photos shared on social media show the man pushing a cart in the store’s produce area and holding a plastic produce bag while wearing the white hood.
Plastic bags are banned in California, but no such ban exists on KKK hoods. Just sayin’. Employees at the store apparently asked the guy to take the hood off, which he did and then paid for his groceries and left. I could see if they want to try to get him for using a plastic bag or not wearing a mask, but a hate crime?
This actually gets pretty funny because of this:
“The Sheriff’s Department does not condone hate or any acts of intolerance in our communities. We are a county that is welcoming of people from all backgrounds,” said the department in a statement.
And this:
Santee Mayor John Minto, other leaders and residents who commented on social media condemned the incident. They said the shopper’s actions did not represent the East County city of almost 60,000 residents.
Which was immediately followed by this:
Over the years, the city has worked to overcome a history of racially motivated attacks and skinhead activity that led to nicknames such as “Klantee.”
The place is literally nicknamed “Klantee” and city officials are trying to pretend like this is shocking and out of character?
Is this in poor taste? Sure. Is it criminal? Not by a long shot. Despite having no degrees in Constitutional law, I do know that people are allowed to express themselves by wearing KKK hoods. The reason why I know this is because I’ve seen plenty of people wearing KKK hoods and robes in public. If I’m not mistaken, the Democratic National Convention used to be one giant KKK rally.
I also feel like this dude was protesting the Nazi-like San Diego county lockdown orders by complying with the mask rules with a KKK hood. I can’t be the only one who sees that this was a big middle finger to the county for unconstitutionally forcing people to behave in a certain way. “You want me to wear a mask? Okay, here’s a mask, fascists.”
Also, that’s not a real KKK hood, that dude made it, which supports my theory he was trying to send a message, not racially intimate people.
Down in Texas, a salon owner was thrown in jail for reopening her establishment and Governor Greg Abbott stepped in to protect her right to earn a living. I know Virginia Governor Ralph “Coonman” Northam has no authority in California, but given his hobby of blackface and wearing KKK outfits, it would be nice to see him defend this man’s right to shop for groceries in whatever kind of face covering he wants.
