You knew it was eventually going to come to this. With a handful of angry destructive leftists killing off our history and forcing liberals to check their white privilege, it was inevitable that they would come for “offensive” sports team names. the Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Indians, who have bravely (pun intended) resisted the politically correct woke police for years are now considering changing their team names. What that means is they will definitely cave and change their names.
ESPN, the CNN of sports, reports:
The Washington Redskins’ nickname has been mired in controversy for decades.
Former team owner Jack Kent Cooke said in 1988: “There is not a single, solitary jot, tittle, whit chance in the world” that the Redskins change their nickname. “I like the name, and it’s not a derogatory name.”
A few years later, protesters picketed against the nickname at the Super Bowl following the 1991 season.
The issue faded in both instances, but every so often, it comes up again. The arc is similar each time: an initial wave of support for a name change, the Redskins holding firm and, finally, waning attention to the issue.
Then came George Floyd’s death on May 25 at the hands of Minneapolis police. The protests that followed led to monuments being felled, the Mississippi state flag’s retirement and countless other changes throughout the nation.
Washington’s NFL team might become part of that change. The team put out a statement Friday saying it is going to “undergo a thorough review of the team name.” That marks the first time under Dan Snyder, who has owned the team since 1999, that the franchise has gone to this extent.

Over in another crime-ridden city, The NY Post reports the same shit is going on:
The Cleveland Indians are considering a name change.
The club, with the NFL’s Washington Redskins launching an internal review of their team nickname this week, issued a statement Friday night expressing a willingness to have internal discussions about the “best path forward with regard to our team name.”
“We are committed to making a positive impact in our community and embrace our responsibility to advance social justice and equality. Our organization fully recognizes our team name is among the most visible ways in which we connect with the community,” said he team n a statement.
Somehow this gets sadder:
“We have had ongoing discussions organizationally on these issues. The recent unrest in our community and our country has only underscored the need for us to keep improving as an organization on issues of social justice. With that in mind, we are committed to engaging our community and appropriate stakeholders to determine the best path forward with regard to our team name,” the team said.
Isn’t it enough that Cleveland sucks? Do they have to change their team name too?
This problem, if dumbasses want to pay attention to other dumbasses, is compounded by the fact that the left has cancelled white guys too, including George Washington and Glover Cleveland. These teams would not only have to change their names but also their cities.
I have no idea if Cleveland is named after Grover Cleveland and I don’t care. If the name matches up, the left is cancelling it.
The Washington Redskins will have to become the Mid-Atlantic Cavers and the Cleveland Indians will be the Flyover Benders.
None of this concerns me as much as the real racial insensitivity going on in sports. I’m half-Swedish and half-Irish and nobody is talking about the extreme racism of the Minnesota Vikings and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. How dare these teams name themselves after my ethnicities without asking me first?
