Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has already painted a Black Lives Matter mural on the street and renamed an area near the White House “Black Lives Matter Plaza.” That is apparently not enough so she put together a working group to recommend D.C. monuments, buildings, and parks that should be removed due to “racism.” What they came up with, among other things, is that the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial have to go. Remember when they were pulling down Confederate statues and President Trump asked, “Where does it stop?” The answer is, it doesn’t stop.
Mayor Bowser (woof) put together a blue-ribbon task force called District of Columbia Facilities and Commemorative Expressions (DCFACES), which is close enough to “defaces.” And defacing is exactly what they want to do. They looked at every building, school, park, statue and monument in D.C. to determine which ones should go. Here’s the criteria they used:
Our decision-making prism focused on key disqualifying histories, including participation in slavery, systemic racism, mistreatment of, or actions that suppressed equality for, persons of color, women and LGBTQ communities and violation of the DC Human Right Act.
With that, here are the monuments and statues they say must be removed:
1. Christopher Columbus – Columbus Fountain (federal)
2. Benjamin Franklin – Benjamin Franklin Statue (federal)
3. Andrew Jackson – Andrew Jackson Statue (federal)
4. Thomas Jefferson – Jefferson Memorial (federal)
5. George Mason – George Mason Memorial (federal)
6. Francis Griffith Newlands – Newlands Memorial Fountain (federal)
7. Albert Pike – Albert Pike Statue (federal)
8. George Washington – Washington Monument, George Washington Statue (federal)
When did they turn on Ben Franklin? What did he do?
Equally as puzzling, the group has recommended that Alexander Graham Bell Multicultural High School be renamed. Somebody should call them on the telephone and let them know how stupid this is.
The group had a real problem with Thomas Jefferson, the architect of our country, and would like to wipe him from history. In addition to pushing his memorial into the Potomac river, they want to rename everything with a “TJ” on it:
Thomas Jefferson – Jefferson Middle School
Thomas Jefferson – Potomac Job Corps Center, Thomas Jefferson Hall
Thomas Jefferson – Jefferson Field
Obviously the big one here is the group’s desire to remove the Washington Monument since it is a monument to our first president and the guy who kicked England’s ass so we could have a country in the first place. I guess the plan here is to erase all history before Barack Obama was elected and then erase the history after that too.
The big question is, what do they want to replace the Washington Monument with? The group does say, but the easiest thing to do would be to paint it brown, put a big cigar wrapper on it, and call it the Bill Clinton memorial. They could even pump in Eau de Intern smell to make it authentic.
I’m sorry, I meant to say the big question is: WTF? Is there some reason why we are even entertaining the idea of removing monuments to our Founding Fathers? Why is the mayor of Washington D.C. commissioning a group whose purpose is to rid the country of the people who founded the country?
Actually, she has an answer for that:
“No matter your race, your faith, your sexual orientation, your gender identity, your background — you should be able to live, work and play in Washington, DC without fear of violence or discrimination,” said Bowser.
So looking at monuments to the greatest men who ever lived is violence against blacks, Muslims, gay, people, and trannies? Liberals certainly have a way with words, don’t they?
I don’t doubt that most people living in D.C. don’t feel particularly safe but that has nothing to do with a Ben Franklin statue, it’s because liberal leadership has turned the city into a perpetual riot zone. Even before that, D.C., under liberal leadership, was one of the most violent cities in America.
