Democrats Read the Polls—Third-Ranking Democrat in the House Openly Embraces a Photo ID Requirement for Voting

Representative James Clyburn (D-SC), who is the Majority Whip in the House of Representatives, says “absolutely” he could “get on board” with photo ID being a requirement to vote at polling places. This from twitchy.com.

Not to accuse democrats of having an ulterior motive, however, this statement coincides with recent polling that indicates a large majority of Americans support a voter ID requirement.

Now, Rep. Clyburn, the third-ranking democrat in the House, indicates that he is supportive of a photo ID requirement at polling places. Again, democrats are beginning to respond to the polls.

This is a strong indication of widespread realization among democrats that it does not make sense and it is not a politically viable strategy for them to oppose measures that promote the integrity of the voting process. I would anticipate a widespread democrat turn toward accepting certain changes to voting laws.

Notice, though, the democrats are not doing this for the good of the country or the betterment of their constituencies. No, they’re seriously considering this change for their own political survival and for the hope of maintaining power.
