Illinois has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country and none of them stopped Highland Park shooter, Bobby Crimo III from obtaining the rifle he used to kill 7 people at a 4th of July parade. Illinois also has a “Red Flag” law and Crimo apparently had 2 very big red flags leading up to the shooting and, again, the law failed to stop him. It’s almost like stuff written on a piece of paper doesn’t stop crazy people from doing evil shit.
Congress recently passed a “gun safety” law that bribes states into passing Red Flag laws that democrats say will stop mass shootings and save lives. We know democrats are wrong about everything, but we rarely see it play out in real time. Check out this interesting bit of information from The NY Post:
Authorities revealed that Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III, 21, had legally purchased at least five firearms — including the AR-15-style rifle he allegedly used in Monday’s massacre — after his two troubling interactions with law enforcement in 2019.
Officials said cops were called to Crimo’s home in April 2019 after receiving a report that he had attempted suicide a week earlier.

Officers spoke to Crimo and his parents, but the matter was handled by mental-health professionals at time, said Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli at a news conference.
“There was no law-enforcement action to be taken. It was a mental-health issue handled by those professionals,” Covelli said.
A few months later, in September 2019, a concerned family member then reported to cops that Crimo had made deadly threats against his relatives, Covelli said.
“A family member reported that Crimo said he was going to kill everyone and Crimo had a collection of knives,” Covelli said. “The police responded to his residence. The police removed 16 knives, a dagger and a sword from Crimo’s home.”
That seems like 2 really big red flags and yet Illinois Red Flag was useless. At the time, cops reported these incidents to the Illinois State Police but were told that Crimo didn’t have a Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card to be revoked. That means if he had one, Illinois would have yanked it and confiscated Crimo’s guns.
And yet, Crimo was issued a FOID card in 2020 and was allowed to amass several firearms, including the one he used in the parade massacre. What is the actual point of the Red Flag law if it doesn’t, you know, notice the red flags?
Crimo’s shooting rampage shows both a failure of gun control and red flags laws to stop mass shootings. Democrats will not recognize the failures of their bullshit legislation and will insist that what’s need is more laws to close the “Crimo loophole.” If something doesn’t work, more of that same thing will also not work. That’s basic logic.
If democrats want a law that might actually stop shit like this from happening, how about passing a parental responsibility law that holds the parents of mass shooters legally responsible for the carnage their asshole kids unleash?
Crimo’s mom and dad knew that their suicidal psychotic kid was buying firearms and thought nothing of it. I saw his uncle, who lives in the house with him, on TV saying that Crimo was a nice kid with no violent tendencies. That’s bullshit and his family should be on trail for murder as well.
