The line of succession in Virginia is about to get a real workout thanks the the sheer rottenness of the democrats in charge. First governor Ralph Northam got busted for a blackface/KKK picture in his college yearbook. Then Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax was accused of sexual assault. Now Attorney General Mark Herring admits that he too used to party in blackface. I have no idea who’s fourth in line in Virginia, but whoever it is hopefully that person isn’t a democrat.
It’s unclear if a Herring blackface photo is floating around, but rumors certainly are. The VA AG had a meeting with the legislative black caucus on Wednesday. One of the members asked him if he had a blackface photo and the party leader pulled Herring into a private room, refusing to let him answer the question. The black caucus members came out of that meeting with some glum-looking faces and then this happened:

That’s a statement from Mark Herring admitting that he did indeed go to a party in blackface.
“In 1980, when I was a 19-year-old undergraduate in college, some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like rappers we listened to at the time, like Curtis Blow, and perform a song. It sounds ridiculous even now writing it. But because of our ignorance and glib attitudes – and because we did not have an appreciation for the experiences and perspectives of others – we dressed up and put on wigs and brown makeup,” reads the statement.
He’s right, it does sound ridiculous. A goofy white guy like him definitely didn’t listen to rap music in 1980 in Virginia. He went to college at UVA and got his law degree at the University of Richmond. Neither of these places were hotbeds of white early-adapters of rap music. I believe that he went to a party in blackface, but he didn’t do it to honor his favorite rapper Kurtis Blow. If I had to guess, I’d say Herring probably listened to crap-rock like Styx and REO Speedwagon at the time and went to a party mocking black people.
In his statement Herring indicates he may resign over this, but he’s a democrat so he’s probably as full of shit as the Governor and Lt. Gov. who have their own disqualifying scandals going on. Still, this does bring up an interesting question about who would be the governor if all three democrats did the right thing and resigned. I looked it up and if all three were to quit, the Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox would become governor and he’s a Republican, so that’s another reason this probably won’t happen.
So in Virginia the line of succession goes like this:
Racist democrat
↓
Rapist democrat
↓
Racist democrat
↓
Non-racist/non-rapist Republican
I doubt that’s how they drew things up in the state constitution, but it’s how it really is.
Is it irony or just hilarious that the democrats, who tout themselves as anti-racist crusaders and pro-women champions, are this mixed up in blackface and sexual assault? We all know how full of shit democrats are, but rarely do we get proof this good to their raging hypocrisy.
