Most of the 2020 democrats have a gun control plan that involve “assault weapons” bans and other do-nothing measures. Joe Biden on the other hand says he will mandate that all guns be DNA-activated like from a James Bond movie. In other words, his gun control plan is to replace all existing guns with guns that don’t exist. There’s a pretty good reason why he is known as “Crazy Joe.”
The Washington Examiner reports that Biden unveiled his gun control platform at a big-money donor fundraiser in NYC. This is the same event that he bragged about his cozy relationship with segregationists and white supremacists. I wonder if he said anything at this fund raiser that wasn’t completely bonkers.
In any case, this is how Biden will put an end to gun-related violence:
“If I get elected president of the United States of America with your help, if that happens, guns, we have the capacity now in a James Bond-style to make sure no one can pull a trigger unless their DNA and fingerprint is on it. We have that capacity to do it now. You know it,” said Biden.
Well no, we actually don’t have the capacity to do this for a couple of reasons. First, DNA-activated guns don’t exist and second, there is nothing remotely Constitutional about mandating that all existing guns be replaced by guns that are a works of fiction.
There are “smart” guns that require a user’s fingerprint to fire. There are however no guns that read a person’s DNA before allowing the user to fire it. The reason why I know this is because there are no consumer products that unlock after reading a person’s DNA. This is simply not something that exists.
There is actually a James Bond film, possibly Skyfall, in which the title character’s signature Walther PPK can only be used if it reads the palm of Bond’s hand. This is not the same thing as reading DNA and it’s not even the same thing as real “smart” guns that read fingerprints. That is to say, this gun in a fictional movie is a work of fiction and not even close to what Biden is describing.
It doesn’t matter to Biden, because he lives in a fantasy world that he’s hoping you would like to live there too.
“Imagine all the people who would be alive today if the only person who could buy a gun is qualified because of background checks and they’re the only ones that can pull the trigger? So my point is there are so many things we have the capacity to do,” Biden said.
As a general rule, mass shooters are the legal owners and purchasers of the guns they use. Even if what Biden was describing was real, it wouldn’t prevent most mass shootings. It also wouldn’t stop most suicides.
I know this may come as a shock, but Biden apparently didn’t put a lot of thought into his gun control platform. If we can ignore that he’s saying we need to mandate a type of firearm that doesn’t exist, that still leaves the problem of all of the guns that do exist in private hands. Is he saying that the hundreds of millions of “dumb” guns have to be confiscated and replaced with the James Bond DNA guns? He probably is, but I doubt he has a solid plan to make that happen.
Just the fact that Joe Biden is basing his entire gun control platform on some fake shit he saw in a movie should be disqualifying. He might as well have said he’s going to get rid of all the guns and replace them with light sabers. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have a light saber, but I also want to keep my conventional firearms.
