Democrats are frantically laying the groundwork to blame any 2020 losses on anyone but themselves and a rabid congresswoman has just provided a generous helping of lemming food to the tinfoil hatters of the party’s lunatic base.
In an editorial published by The Hill, Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) is pushing new legislation that would allow for the government to more easily assist its Silicon Valley tech oligarch partners in censoring pro-Trump and conservative content from social media platforms under the pretense of preventing “deep fake” videos.
Wikipedia describes deep fakes as:
…a technique for human image synthesis based on artificial intelligence. It is used to combine and superimpose existing images and videos onto source images or videos using a machine learning technique known as generative adversarial network. The phrase “deepfake” was coined in 2017.
Because of these capabilities, deepfakes have been used to create fake celebrity pornographic videos or revenge porn. Deepfakes can also be used to create fake news and malicious hoaxes.
Note how the timing of the introduction of the term and the drastic escalation of social media censorship against conservatives – coincidence?

Via The Hill, “Deep fakes: The emerging technology that could interfere with our elections”:
As an elected official I’ve had a front-row seat in seeing how technology is advancing, specifically through my work on the Multicultural Media Caucus, which I founded with a couple of my fellow colleagues several years ago. From this Caucus my eyes were opened to how artificial and augmented intelligence is used to target vulnerable populations, like Black women and for revenge porn. In learning about this technology, I also learned about a very concerning emerging technology when used to deceive others called “deep fakes.”
Deep fake videos, simply put, are manipulated videos that are so covertly altered using artificial intelligence that it’s indiscernible that these videos have been changed from their original form. To make matters scarier, this growing and emerging technology can be applied in a whole host of ways which can be devastating to our American democracy.
As videos come across our screens, Americans deserve to know when a video has been altered. It’s why I introduced the Defending Each and Every Person from False Appearances by Keeping Exploitation Subject to Accountability (DEEPFAKES) Act (H.R. 3230) earlier this month, the first legislation of its kind in the House of Representatives.
This legislation will require intentionally deceptive content-creators to label videos with a digital watermark and a written disclaimer informing its viewers that the content has been manipulated. And when these content-creators do not abide, we will, for the first time in our history, have a legal course of action against these very content-creators while also giving people who have been portrayed in deep fake videos a legal course of action.
Clarke is a notorious crank and another member of the racist-infested Congressional Black Caucus who has moved on from her efforts to have the local U.S. Army base in her district remove the names of all Confederate generals from streets – she accused the Army of white supremacy.
I will continue to call on @USArmy to reckon with history & remove the names of Confederate generals from Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn. pic.twitter.com/j6DzwWSJP3

The Army told her to go to hell.
There have been media reports about how more than 3,000 Russian ads were bought on Facebook to incite racial & religious division & chaos in the US during the 2016 election.

Rep. Clarke also raked Facebook overlord Mark Zuckerberg (who she referred to as Zuckerman) over the coals during his congressional testimony and baselessly asserted that the social media giant would have been better suited to fight off phantom armies of Russian trolls had they hired more black monitors.
Deep fakes? Just another one of Rep. Clarke’s racially motivated scams to bully Silicon Valley into adopting more affirmative action or the tip of the spear for the next wave of censorship?
