In the presidential primaries, Iowa comes first. The state holds the first caucuses, which is why candidates flood the place and annoy the hell out of residents for a solid 8 months. Democrat Julian Castro thinks the state is too white and doesn’t represent the diversity of the country, which in his mind makes the fact that Iowa goes first extremely racist.
Castro was Obama’s HUD secretary, which is the same thing as saying he is a complete nobody. In fact, most people don’t know who he is or that he’s running for president. He did his best to insure that he won’t get a single vote in the Iowa caucuses with this tweet:
I was asked today in Iowa about the order of our primaries. I appreciate how seriously Iowa & New Hampshire take their role as first-in-the-nation.
But we’ve changed in the 50 years since order was established—and I believe it’s time our primaries reflect our nation’s diversity. pic.twitter.com/mY0EvnhXNr

“I actually do believe that the need to change the order of the states because I don’t believe we are the same country we were in 1972. That’s when Iowa first held its caucus first. And by the time we’ve had the next presidential election in 2024 it’ll have been more than 50 years since 1972,” said Castro.
He is aware that the next presidential election is in 2020, right? I mean, he is a candidate for president in 2020, so he has to know this. And yet he says the next one is in 2024. I may have identified a major problem with his failing campaign: he’ doesn’t know when he’s running.
“Our country’s changed a lot in those 50 years. The democratic party has changed a lot,” he continued.
Well, at least he said one thing that is correct. Yes, the democratic party has changed a lot but I’m not sure that’s something to brag about. They are now basically the communist party of America and working for the destruction of this country as we know it. Change isn’t always better.
“Demographically [Iowa is] not reflective of the United States as a whole, it’s certainly not reflective of the democratic party and I believe that other states should have their chance. So yes of course we need to find other states,” Castro said.
Wow, on top of the racism accusation, Castro just said that Iowa isn’t really part of America. That’s a bold strategy for guy whose candidacy has next to no support.
The bottom line is this: Castro says Iowa shouldn’t have their caucuses first because the state isn’t as diverse as the rest of the America. So what he’s really saying Iowa is too damn white. He’s also saying that becuase Iowa is too damn white, it’s racist that they get the first primary race.
Again, this strategy is madness. Castro is currently polling at 1% in Iowa. He thinks that he can improve upon that by insulting the state and demanding their first-in-the-nation primary be ripped away. Not only won’t he attract more support, that 1% he has going on will surely abandon him.
Making this even crazier, Castro has essentially closed up his campaign in the rest of the country and is putting everything he has into Iowa. It’s Iowa or bust for him and he thinks telling the state that they are too white, too racist, and not real Americans is going to propel his candidacy all the way to the democratic party nomination.
Before the Castro tweet, his previous claim to fame was demanding that the government fund abortions for men. Somehow he managed to top that by calling the Iowa caucuses racist. Obviously a nobody like him needs to get his name out there, but this ain’t the way.
