CNN Breaks The News That President Trump’s Coronavirus Task Force Is Too White

Conventional liberal thinking (oxymoron) is that in order to solve any problem, qualifications and skill are less important than skin color. In another hard hitting piece of “journalism,” CNN says President Trump’s coronavirus task force is too white and can’t possibly deal with things unless they get some diversity. There is no science to back this up but fake news wouldn’t be fake if it was backed by facts.

This is a real headline from CNN today: Coronavirus task force another example of Trump administration’s lack of diversity

And they’re damn serious about this:

It’s a statement that’s as predictable as it is infuriating: President Donald Trump’s administration lacks diversity.

On Tuesday, Trump tweeted photos of a briefing he’d received on the new coronavirus spreading out of China.

“We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments,” the President said in his post. “We have the best experts anywhere in the world, and they are on top of it 24/7!”

Who are these experts? They’re largely the same sort of white men (and a couple women on the sidelines) who’ve dominated the Trump administration from the very beginning.

Ben Carson and Nikki Haley beg to differ, but whatever, this is CNN. They then went on to compare Trump’s super white coronavirus task force to Obama’s sure diverse Ebola task force:

By contrast, former President Barack Obama’s circle of advisers in the face of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was hardly so monochromatic. Neither was it so abysmal in terms of gender diversity. (Of course, to contextualize, Obama’s administration, on the whole, was far more diverse than Trump’s.)

So Obama had Susan Rice and Jeh Johnson, but the rest of his task force was white? And that makes his task force supercalifragilisticexpialidocious diverse?

And yet, as unsurprising as the diversity conversation in the Trump era has become, it’s still worth pointing out from time to time, especially as the country approaches the 2020 presidential election in earnest.

That’s because the recent photos of “the best experts” telegraph the sorts of people the administration deems worthy of holding power — and even being in close proximity to it.

But the visuals that have come to define the Trump administration say something else, too. They signal the kind of people in a multi-racial country Trump values the opinions of: mostly white men who are mirror images of the President himself.

It’s funny that CNN should mention diversity in the context of the 2020 election. The democratic party field of candidates is suddenly lacking diversity and yet CNN hasn’t done any pieces bemoaning the overwhelming whiteness. In fact, CNN is holding town halls with the white democratic party candidates, but decided to leave out the lone woman of color: Tulsi Gabbard.

Check this thing out from The Hill:

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) says she’s received no explanation or response from CNN regarding not being invited to a series of town halls the network is hosting in New Hampshire days before a crucial primary there in February.

Gabbard is currently polling at 4.8 percent in the RealClearPolitics index of polls in New Hampshire, ahead of tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang, businessman Tom Steyer and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Yang, Steyer and Patrick, along with former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) all received invites to participate in the two-night event.

So it’s bad that Trump lacks diversity on his coronavirus task force but okay for CNN to literally exclude diversity in their presidential race coverage? Hypocrisy is awesome!

The liberal mindset is that everything must include a black woman, a handicapped Latino, a transgender Asian, a fabulous gay guy, and a pacific islander who’s had an abortion. Qualifications and skills be damned! The thing is, I’m not so sure diversity like this can claim any accomplishments.
