Joe Manchin has said that he broke off negotiations for the Build Back Better agenda because the White House lied and tried to bully him. Civility is something important to Manchin and it was absent in the socialist spending plan talks. Since he announced he can’t support BBB, democrats have been anything but civil, accusing the West Virginia Senator of being a liar and a racist. Even Joe Biden got in on it, lying that Manchin admitted to lying, which is not a great way to bring him back to the table.
After infecting reporters with COVID-19 yesterday, Biden took a few questions from his victims:
“Do you believe Senator Manchin kept his word with you?” a reporter asked.
“Joe went on TV today, uh I not was TV or not. I’m told he was speaking to the liberal caucus in the House and said, ‘Joe Biden didn’t mislead you, I misled you,’” Biden replied.
So no, Biden does not believe Manchin kept his word. In fact, Biden says Manchin admitted to lying.
You may notice that Biden’s story seems a little suspect since he lists “not was TV or not” as the source for Manchin’s alleged lie. Also, Joe Manchin is all the news is covering these days and nobody reported him admitting to deceiving the democrats over his support for Build Back Better.
In a weird turn of events, someone from the liberal media actually looked into the truthfulness of a Joe Biden statement and found it to be false. Here’s CNN Congressional correspondent Manu Raju:
Biden says he still thinks he and Manchin can get a deal, though doesn’t say yes or no when asked if Manchin went back on his word.
And he says of Manchin: “I’m told he was speaking to the liberal caucus in the House and said, ‘Joe Biden didn’t misled you, I misled you.'”

This conversation that Biden is talking about didn’t happen with Jayapal, I’m told

WH cleans it up. Spox tells @jeffzeleny: “The President was underlining that constructive and respectful conversations are happening …. However, the President wanted to clarify that Senator Manchin did not characterize himself as having been ‘misleading.’”

So it wasn’t Joe Manchin who was being deceptive, it was Joe Biden. This is extra-funny because the White Hose claims Biden was trying to demonstrate respect for Manchin by falsely accusing him of lying.
After lying about Manchin, Biden’s answer meandered for several minutes and then he got really angry talking about a fictitious family whose kid somehow ended up in a coma. Then he put a stop to things.
“But I’m not supposed to be having this press conference,” said Biden.
Biden turned and walked out with reporters still shouting questions at him. It’s hard to tell, but I don’t think anyone asked Biden why he’s the (illegitimate) President of the United States but someone else tells him what he can and cannot do.
And what we learned form all of this is that Joe Biden’s word is garbage and he’s not the one running the show. Joe Manchin learned that his instincts were right and that the White House was never negotiating in good faith.
