Try To Guess Which Democrats Voted Against Supreme Court Security Bill

Based on the hysteria whipped up by democrats over the leaked Roe v. Wade draft decision and their call to violence against Supreme Court Justices and their families, the Senate passed a bill that would give added protection. It also passed today in the House but 27 democrats voted against it. Not surprisingly, that list of democrats includes all of the usual America-haters and communists who shit on this country and our institutions.

The Hill reports:

The House passed a bill on Tuesday that would provide security protections to family members of Supreme Court justices, sending the measure to President Biden’s desk for final approval.

The legislation, dubbed the Supreme Court Police Parity Act, cleared the House in a 396-27 vote, with only Democrats objecting to the measure.

The bill offers “around-the-clock security protection” to family members of Supreme Court justices and “any officer” of the bench if the court marshal deems it necessary, protections similar to those of some executive and congressional officials.

Supreme Court justices already have federal protection.

This is one of those things that makes you wonder: who could actually be against this? It’s like being against a bill that would give rescue pups to war widows. Only a complete asshole would vote against this and here’s that list:

A total of 27 Democrats voted “no” on the bill: Reps. Joyce Beatty (Ohio), Jamaal Bowman (N.Y.), Cori Bush (Mo.), Veronica Escobar (Texas), Adriano Espaillat (N.Y.), Jesús García (Ill.), Sylvia Garcia (Texas), Josh Gottheimer (N.J.), Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.), Steven Horsford (Nevada), Pramila Jayapal (Wash.), Brenda Lawrence (Mich.), Barbara Lee (Calif.), Tom Malinowski (N.J.), Marie Newman (Ill.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Bill Pascrell (N.J.), Donald Payne (N.J.), Ed Perlmutter (Colo.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Mikie Sherrill (N.J.), Albio Sires (N.J.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Norma Torres (Calif.), Nydia Velázquez (N.Y.), Maxine Waters (Calif.) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (N.J.).

There’s a lot of familiar names on that list. Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee, Pramila Jayapal, and of course the Squad. Actually, Ilhan Omar didn’t join her dingbat crew and actually voted for it. She must have thought it was a bill to divest from Israel or perhaps something that legalizes incest.

In any case Alexandria Ocasio Cortez did vote against it and here’s why. Get ready to laugh:

Ocasio-Cortez told reporters that she voted against the bill as a call to action for gun and abortion legislation.

“I think it’s ridiculous that we have the political will and capacity to pass protections for ourselves so quickly, but for some reason when it comes to kids, people in grocery stores, anybody in a public place, that we somehow can’t get gun safety or we can’t even pass federal protections…we can’t pass expanded security protections for federal workers who are providing health care and abortion care as well,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Federal workers don’t provide abortions, but besides that, her answer is idiotic. She doesn’t want the families of Supreme Court Justices protected because we don’t offer 24-hour protection for each of the 330 million individuals in the United States. It gets dumber because she’s saying we have to pass gun control to protect Americans when disarming them would leave them at the mercy of criminals who won’t surrender their guns.

And making it a perfect AOC moment she says Congress shouldn’t pass protection laws for themselves until everyone else in the country is protected the same way. In reality, she tried to deny the families of SCOTUS Justices protection, while leaving her protection in place. It seems like if she really feels this strongly about it that she should ditch her security detail.
